Question

How to connect motor, ESC, battery and receiver?

I am new to electric RC and building a Brio 10. I have a Park 480 motor, brushless ESC, 3S 11.1v LiPo battery and a JR crystalless receiver. I need some advice on how to connect these all up.

If I need to post more details on the parts, etc. just ask.

I found the "How do I connect Motor, ESC, RX & Battery???" post: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=953918 - this seems to give the info I need.

But I just want to dbl check one thing: Does the ESC connect to the RX throttle slot? What, if anything connects to the RX battery slot?

If you look at the wires on the ESC, it only goes together one way.

Also, the ESC is usually marked as to where each wire set goes.

When using Esc, nothing is connected to the Rx battery slot. Esc will feed the Rx through the throttle slot.

The battery slot is used to connect an external radio battery in a pure glider or when using a piston engine (no esc/bec available).

A picture is worth.....more than my explanation anytime

Just one thing to watch for, check if the Rx has the +, -, and ~, marked on it, as many servos and ESC connectors can be plugged in either way round.
Getting it wrong wont damage anything though, it just wont work.

Thank you for the replies & pic.

Another noob question: Can\should I connect a battery to the battery slot AND the ESC\LiPo to the throttle? Would this act as a backup for the servos & RX or run the servos & RX off the battery slot and the motor off the LiPo\throttle slot?

NO! You should go back and start reading some of the threads for new electric flyers before you ruin something...
