I'll start. This is my Hangar 9 Alpha 40 on Aircore Explorer Floats. It is my first and hopefully not the last float plane. It's got a evolution .45 engine with a 10x6 prop.

29 rods from you in western WI

My uncle has been out of the hobby for over a decade, and decided to return with a Lanier Mariner. The ringed ST engine hand-started easily during run-in, but became a bit balky when the water was in sight.

Throws were too high, trims were off, sun was glaring, but it came back in one piece under its own power.

(no wood ticks were harmed during filming, unfortunately)

Lots of other shots from the weekend are at http://www.flickr.com/photos/pupsock...7626760708014/. Flyby shot:

Celi, I like your birds! For some reason your junkyard reminded me of 20,000 leagues under the sea when I saw the build photo's! Very cool build.

Add a saw to the fuse and some bubble windows!

How about flying boats ?, (not always classed as 'float' planes).
