Sent my Dx6i back to Horizon for repair

I sent my radio (dx6i) back to Horizon Hobby because it would not bind up with my recievers... Yes all my reciever are Spektrum's.... But I did buy acouple of orange spektrum recievers from HK, at $8.00 each why not...
To get back on track, I asked Horizons tech's also to have the throttle stick modded so that it will self center like the right stick... I will have it back in the next day or two... I have my dx3s ready to go if the sun breaks though here in rainy Ct.....

Hi Joe
well,I will be surprised if you have any problems after this - based on my
own personal experience with Horizon, and from others I have talked to ,
their customer service is over the top - 5 stars.
The only time I ever experienced any bind issue's I considered it "my
fault" in that the power to the RX was low or the actual male plug was
suspect ( loose/damaged) off the batt pack or on/off switch.

question : I run a DX5e for my sailboats - does your DX6i also have in the
instructions the bit about the "range check" function like mine does ?
ie: after binding the RX to the TX, I have to walk 100 feet away, (with
everything powered up of course) and while holding the trainer toggle switch
one is supposed to then toggle the hi/lo rate switch 4 times - lights flash
and something beeps -tells me I am connected to the boat....I always
wondered if this was just for the DX5e or do the higher end units do this to?
2.4 ghz rocks !

Allan the dx6i has the range check function instructions to... Also the dx7 has them to... I think all of the spectrum units from Horizon probably has them also... It is always better to be safe than sorry....

I have never had a problem with binding.
Throttle comes and goes when it feel like it, they told me to use a servo instead of a speed controler.

Got my dx6i back from Horizon today and gotta say that Horizon cusotmer service is top notched... I sent it back because the radio would not bind to my recievers anymore... I also asked them to make the throttle stick self center like the right stick... Horizon went though my radio and replaced all 4 digital trim actuator's, new RF board, gimbal t/r and a/e. All of this was done free of charge....
A big thanks to Tony S at Horizon ....

hi - sorry to resurrect an old thread but how old was your dx6i when you returned it?
reason i'm asking is i just bought a 2nd hand DX6i as i am still saving up for a DX8 but the seller didn't tell me about a fault with the LCD - there's a line thru the LCD and i want to have the tx serviced and get the LCD repaired

got my tx back within a week (working day) and they didn't charge me.
they replaced the LCD and also one of the switch which looked a bit bent.

now i'm just thinking whether i have money for a DX8!
