Radio Tower Location Chart

Here's a handy plugin I found for Google earth that can tell you what frequency and how much power just about any FCC tower is putting out across the country.

Enjoy guys

Aye that is handy, I found it last night. One of the handier features is the registered towers that don't fall into normal commercial broadcast. I gave a few people the KMZ hoping they would see which way not to fly while conducting range operations.

The php file just opens up a new tab when getting the file. Either way the end result is the same.

Took a little digging but heres the direct file link

Sorry for my ignorance, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I run the file, point it to Google Earth, it opens, but there's no additional layer or icons. What am I doing wrong?

I did a google search on antenna plugins, and did find this website: http://www.fccinfo.com/fccinfo_google_earth.php
On the page, it has a link to this: http://ge.fccinfo.com/fccinfo.kmz When I run that, it does open in google earth (maybe it's the same thing?) under temporary places. But those antenna links don't provide any frequency or power ratings, which I thought was some of the information we could get. It just shows where the antennas are, who owns them, and how tall they are.

Twinturbostang - Yup its the same link. You can find power ratings and frequencies for everything but those in the the Broadcast Microwave tab. If you want to find the exact power rating for a tower say... in the 2.5GHz range, sorry your SOL. If you want to find what channel and how much power a local TV tower is pouring out, or what frequency an unknown tower in your LOS is broadcasting at, then this is right for you.

The tool isn't perfect but it'll help you find where potential loss of signal and RF noise could be coming from...

This link shows on Google Maps where all the UK cell phone masts are. Most seem to chuck out around 50W on 900MHz and 1800MHz

Ok, thanks.

Between this and antennasearch.com, there's quite a lot of information available. It's actually quite scary to know how many antennas are out there. And there seem to be a TON in the 900MHz range. No wonder I get external interference on 910MHz at some flying sites!!!

KMZ FCC Database

Actually, the KMZ file data base is decieving small and the file that get download is just the first couple of blocks. The file itself is very simple it has the all the information and is in standard Lat Long coordinate. Once you get the file, Google Earth generates more data for the chrome application.
