Grease or oil....oil or grease. I'm trying to figure out what to use in my GB. Has anyone come to any conclusion as to what they are going to use? Or are using?

Anyone familiar with this? http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp...D&ProdID=10225

Or this? http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp...OD&ProdID=9867

I'm considering this http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp...D&ProdID=12609 unless someone tells me it's not what I want.

I don't want something like this holding up the X-plane's completion.

Bill the esprit syringes are useless (I have it and only use it on servos). You are looking for something that will not shear in excess of 50k rpm, keep the needle bearings happy, not deteriorate the plastic cage, tolerate any flaking of the teeth and keep the gears otherwise happy during rotation, start-up and braking....

Buy some of mine, or send me your motor and I'll take care of it (remove all all old lubricant, relube, seal and ship).

I only contacter Kluber for this after seeing a marked jar on the brushless God's shelf in an rcgroups post.

Rich, thanks for the offer and I may still take you up on it even though I just ordered the TriFlow http://www.espritmodel.com/index.asp...D&ProdID=12609 along with the 648 retaining compound.

Do you think the TriFlow grease would not be adequate?

It's funny how people come to different conclusions when presented with the same information! Under no circumstances would I have bought the TriFlow grease when both of the other types you linked were specifically aimed at gearbox applications.

Its funny isnt it..

Id like to try some klubber, but it seems to be unobtanium outside of the EU.

Does it have any spec's? so I can try to find an equivalent.

Maybe we should all try different stuff, and see whos gearbox explodes first

I suppose part of why I decided on the Triflow is because I am familiar with Triflow oil that I used on my helis and on motor bearings. I also seem to be using up alot of time trying to figure out what exactly to use, so I just made a decision, even if it was not the best one.

Mike, based how how strongly you seemed to feel about the Triflow, and the fact I had some doubt already, I just cancelled the Triflow.

I know what you mean about wasting time making a decision and my comment wasn't necessarily aimed against TriFlow but when presented with two products that were specifically aimed at gearboxes it seemed odd that you would go for the third option.

Based on others comments about Reisenauer products you might want to consider the grease they use

http://www.reisenauer.de/artikeldetails.php5?aid=1135

For 2 euros and a couple of weeks waiting for delivery it might be worth a try?

Since your HET have a 3.17 shaft you sure can use a GB with it. Both KPG25 and KPG27 accept this size of motor. 5.2:1, 4.2:1 and 3.7:1 are the reduction rate options.
Just remember to get the right kind of flange and a bottle of Loctite 648....

Im having issues....

One KPG25 I have has busted the pinion-shaft bond three times now.

Ive tried changing the pinion for a new one, both shaft and pinion have been meticulously cleaned before install, and its still busting them off.

Im wondering if my loctite 680 has gone bad? This is getting annoying now...

Not a single problem.
Even when pinion not so tight to the shaft.
Heat box overnight.

jacko - locktite is good for about 1.5-2 years shell life. I lightly grind the shaft with 400-500 sanding paper.
