Just might be ideal for an X-plane application....

Speaking of small (not tiny)....I just remembered I have an Aveox 1015/2Y with a Maxon 4.4:1 GB. I think the calc said it pulls about 34A on 5S with a 12x6 prop. I spun it up on an 11x7 on 3S (don't know how many amps) and it was amazing the thrust it had. This just might be a great starter set-up for a 60" plane or so.

I doubt I will use it. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM. It has a CC35A esc on it too.

Im thinking of using my Mega 16/25/1.5S in my KPG 27.... and the shaft on this smaller mega is only 11mm long.. And with the adapterflansche in place the shaft is 2mm from the bottom of the gearbox.

Will it be ok if the pinion that has to be glued on to the shaft only is glued 7mm ? will it hold ? The pinion is 9mm long..

Or would it be better to glue the pinion all the way on the shaft, but this way the gears from pinion will be 2mm higher up, making the pinion only to grip with 7mm of its length instead of the 9mm..

I hope you understand me, otherwise I can draw a picture explaining.

sebbe - Use the fun/kira 400 mount, opened up centre hole, to get ALL the shaft in the pinion, and the gears engaged properly.

Whats everyone using for lube in their KPG's/planetary boxes being pushed hard?

Jacko, NP, I will be using a mega 16/40/1, it has longer shaft... just did order one.

I am also wundering, what lube to use in the gearbox.

I can send you some, $15 + shipping = 3ml in a syringe + application tip (enough for at least 2 completely dry boxes).

This is some of the best synthetic lubricant you can buy, made for high load, high speed applications... will not shear like the junk you buy at the automotive stores.

I will check with my father first, he works in a factory where they have the most expensive oil/lube for machines...

I wanted to know what KIND of lube..? a high pressure/load / speed lube ?

Thanks anyway...

Heather
It seems to shear/dissipate quickly https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...06&postcount=8

I have also lost the bearings in one with what appeared to be factory lubrication. At the end of the day, I suspect it does not matter much, all this "evidence" is probably caused by other things... I spent way too much time trying to find the best which is why I am so adament about all this here

a high pressure/load / speed lube ?

yes, yes, yes... tell him your application is like a spindle bearing, but worse... the same lube which keeps the needle bearings happy must also keep the gears happy since these all have open cages.

Id imagine some sorta low viscosity high grade gearbox oil would be best?

Grease seems like it would get flung off too easily, which is why I used aeroshell 12.

What about something like this - http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=42&pcid=8

My getrag 260, and LSD love redline fluids.. Im tempted to give it a go!

The kontronic grease, looks, smells and feels like molykote 33 light. Could just be a similar product though.

That's just ridiculous. You need synthetic like Parkay or Country Crock.
