Fantastic!

Hmmm... I've been looking Pro Boat and AquaCraft cats, using the excuse that I need a retrieval boat for my FunCub on floats. Looks like that can work both ways!

Great job!

I'm in the same boat as you (yuk yuk yuk)... I'm a long-time RC airplane guy with a few helis and a 1/8 nitro buggy thrown in for giggles. Now that there are RTR brushless boats offering great performance at a reasonable cost for folks new to that part of the R/C hobby, I'm ready to take the plunge (another yuk yuk yuk).

And you can thank the Chinese importers of affordable LiPos for making it something I'm willing to try.

Right now, the Pro Boat Mystic 29 is looking mighty good to me...
Horizon recommends a 50C race battery at $100 each, and I'd want two sets --four batteries-- that's $400!. I'd most likely buy some 30C or 40C batteries from HobbyKing at less than $30 each. For playing around at the lake, I'm sure I wouldn't notice too much difference.

Besides, the specs say the boat comes with a 60A ESC. With the recommended 5200mah size batteries, more than 15C of discharge would be overpowering the ESC. Hmmm.

Get the Turnigy 40c 2s5000mah packs, they're like $23 each and work great.

Those are exactly the ones I would pick. I'm very satisfied with the Turnigy 40C LiPos I've purchased for my electric-powered airplanes.

But back to the thread's topic... the Motley Crew. Is anyone going to recommend it over the Mystic 29?

It's probably faster out of the box, and handles corners better.

I've run my bone stock Motley Crew (stock plastic prop too!) against a Miss Geico with a UL-1 motor and it was much quicker in the corners, but not quite as quick flat out. I bet with the m445 on it now it would keep up much better in the straights.

Did some work on the MC yesterday. Changed the setup up dropped a Leopard 4068 2350kv motor in it, a swordy 200 (waterproofed), flipped the motor mount and took a dremal to the stuffing tube and flexshaft. Should be interesting on this setup , prop is top secret ... no clue when ill actually be able to run her.

Guys are pushing 50 on the stock motor/esc, no reason why it won't do 60 with this as long as it stays on the water!

nice work diesel yes definatley video i plan on getiing one after i finish my outlaw i have thought so much between this and the mystic while the mystic kinda looks more serious i like this because its out there plus its got an awesome interior so when i do get it im going to get the upgraded flex from kintec as long as a replacement rudder and 5.5 mm bullets and try some esc coolers and see if that helps and for added bling and a grim 40x55 prop and later on a T-180 esc and fighter cat 2200kv outrunner and new watercooled mount so far excellent job on your MC
