Finally Done

Well here is my QuadRino F450 in the final configuration except LEDs (still in transit) and Video Transmitter/OSD ..

The QuadRino is tucked-away in the first level of the F450 and the Battery sits now on top. All custom cabling and the EZ-Cables are cut-off to the minium required length. Keeps it clean.

Using the Frankenstein Case for it - had to do some modifications to it, but it's still a good base .. quiet expensive for $25 but I guess it's worth the protection.

GPS is now mounted, too - using a LocoSys 20Hz GPS and the $6 RCTimer Nav-I2C board. Going to test GPS-hold today :-)

Good clean build. I'll be doing the same with my wiring. Really make the thing look even better put together.

I have a question for the group.

What, if any, are the reason some have put their batteries on the top deck and their fc board on the middle?

I put the FC in the middle because it is the most expensive piece of the kit.
So really need to protect it
The battery if the worst happens, I would rather have the battery on top becuase it is easier to get away from the rest of the unit.

Thanks Guys, Yeah that was my thought - keep all the goodies within the only protected area ... especially away from the props. Probably don't need a dome now since the board is well protected by the top plate from the prop-wash. Baro still should work well since it measures atmospheric pressure and that's the same within the top and the lower level :-) even within the case.

Understood, I like having mine on top. It's under the dome but I do see some benefit. To internal mounting....until you need to change something.

Doc, Do my spider senses tell me something..???

I can't stop thinking about that quad...... how is it coming?

I am waiting on a few Quadrino boards, main batteries and the real FPV cameras!
Mounted the esc's, PDB, BEC's and motors.

Yeah I had the same thought but I still have access to the USB for emergency and a BT Module for config via phone .. I also can easily access the i2c bus since I made some connectors that I can pull out and connect.. so should be good :-)

Just tested GPS-Hold - although I could see that it was trying to move .. it didn't do it right :-) hehe ...

My understanding is that once activated, it saves the current position and try's to stay in that place ... is that correct?

Yes , but I think ACC should be on.
Maybe one of the others guys have a better answer.
Just give them a little time to chime in!

ACC = Level, right?

LEVEL and MAG are both always on and perfect calibrated ...

GPS-HOLD is activated via switch.

So to the GPS' defense .. it was a bit windy .. probably like 2-3mph.
