Casl f3j event December 2011

At our recent club meeting, we discussed adding a F3J event to be held at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek, AZ (where our annual Southwest Classic event is held). Since the interest in F3J has grown and that the club has expressed interest in hosting two annual events, we would like to gauge how much real interest and participation we can expect from CASL members.

We have spoken with Jim Monaco and he is in full support of CASL using his scoring application, which was used to score F3J in the desert. We will also be in close contact with Jim to ensure this event is run well.

Please respond if you are interested in competing in a F3J event on the weekend of. December 3rd and 4th 2011.

Having your input will help us grow the CASL schedule of events and serve the soaring community. We appreciate your prompt response.

Thank you
Joe Wydronek
CASL President

Dude, that's a tough weekend to pull off. Being the turkey that I am, I would have to hide from the wife if I ditched her that weekend. Another betcha!

So what would be a good weekend? I would love to make this event happen if we can get enough support. Please help us with a suggestion for a better weekend?
Thank you,

Holiday weekends are tougher in general (for me...speaking as one with kids) and you would also want to avoid stepping on the existing multi-day contests, plus you probably should keep it at least a couple weeks either side of the TS at end of October.

So, if you're aiming late in the year that leaves Oct. 15-16, Nov. 19-20, Dec. 3-4 or Dec. 10-11. A bit earlier would be Sep. 10-11 or Sep. 17-18. Don't know if late summer is an option...maybe Aug. 27-28? Guess it depends what kind of weather you're looking for, and I don't know enough about the local weather patterns to state a preference for any of the winter dates.

I love the discussion of more F3J events!

I agree with all the input so far, holiday weekends are a no for me, and stay away from TS event and if possible other major events. Early fall say September would be good this year as the TS in end of Oct so it would be another preparation opportunity, otherwise early December would be my vote.

The Farms are likely unavailable during the entire month of October due to their well established annual Pumpkin Festival. The contest area is used for parking.

In November they have no real events scheduled, but they are open. I have no idea how busy they are.

I am all for a contest, but T-Giving is out for me.

Yes October is no good for the use of the Farm. And September is still pretty darn warm out here. We will be looking at everyones input and coming up with a plan. We are all very excited to put on a second event out here and want to include as many f3j pilots as possible.
