Hello Mark.
I replaced my rotor before. You need to find a way to hold the blades without breaking them. (your hands wont be enough) I used some wood and held a few blades. Then remove the center screw. Mine was VERY tight. But it will come off.

There was a special tool that BVM Sells for this. It was an aluminum clamp that went around the rotor with an o ring inside

of course they do :-),

BTW, do they want people replacing rotors, I thought they want the units sent back for testing and re-balance that way the can maintain QC and warranty.

i would assume if the warranty is passed they should sell you a new rotor

Actually every VioFan comes with a tool and instructions for removing the rotor, it's not a conspiracy to sell you something... ;-)

Jack,

Do you know this to be the case for sure? My NIB EVF3 direct from BVM did not come with any tools.

Must not anymore? I found a PDF on BVM's web site mentioning now (EV~2 and EV~3) that it should be done at the factory, it appears the days of removing your own are gone <sniff>...
