Rc genesis

Hi all I'm totally new to this so I really do not nomuch about what parts to buy and how to do it. I recenly bought a genesis rc boat from hobbyking so far the only mods I've done is a turnigy 180a esc and just ordered a octurax640 prop polished and balanced everything else is completely stock. Can anyone give me some tips for getting more power without spending a fortune. also I'm not very good on the technical side of things but I sounds like alot if people really know there stuff on here. I have already received a bit of help of diesel6401 thanks mate. Can anyone help me with some ideas it would be much appreciated

First off welcome, secondly, you have purchased the best ESC out there for the money. It will handle anything youi throw at it in that hull..........so you are good to go there. That ESC allows you to use a higher kv motor, or one that will take 6s and is of a lower kv.

Have you run it yet? It should be pretty fast with the stock motor and that prop.

Yes I've had 2 runs with it on 4s running 2s parallel the stock prop broke so going to try the new octura prop this week hopefully it goes well. This looks like it's going to be very addictive! Not sure what step to take next for speed since my knowledge is basically 0. Atleast I got the right esc hey!

If you bought an Octura prop, it won't fit the shaft properly. You will need to do one of two things........

1. Replace the driveline & bushing. OR
2. Buy the little collet adapter from OSE that takes the slop out of the prop fitting on the shaft.

Good luck & welcome to the site.

You know I responded to your PM too. Check out those things & it should answer a few questions.

Im on Offshoreelectrics all the time and those guys and me love those hulls,, so i would go there and look around the boat building section and youll probly find something and when looking there also look at the threads marked Fightercat Daytona hulls its the same as the genesis hull...

Bill you have some really good info on your thread. This might come in handy. definalty tossing up between the neu 1521 and the leopard 4082 1500kv motors. From what i can gather both would be great to use but i think the neu motor is more expensive. anyone know what the speed diffence between both would be. Also would it be the same amount of work installing either one of these motors?

Calculate the motors RPM (Kv) by the voltage to get your max UNLOADED RPM. Kv x V = Max RPM. My boat motor 2000kv x 22.2V = 44,400rpm unloaded. Turning an Octura 440/3 it probably only gets about 28,000 if that. I know it revved harder with the 437/3, but, didn't seem as fast.

Is there any way to log the motors max RPM while running WOT?

Depending on your setup, ie: prop diameter & pitch, against what the motor is comfortably able to cope with under load can considerably lower the RPM, but, also load your motor too much & fry it.

It's all about a happy medium. What you're happy to pay for & how happy you'll be with that amount of performance. :-)

Look at peoples videos & what ever impresses you the most, use that set up! :-)

The Neu is more expensive, but, I personally think they are a better quality motor.

I've owned a couple & ran them in 1/8 cars & trucks. Very reliable, powerful & well built.
