Read RPM's while in the Air! Hovering!

Hey! Guys
I know I read in the very long Heli section of the Walkera UFLY thread that someone mentioned that it would be nice to have a tachometer (kinda like a Timing light) that could read rmp's while in the air !! NOW YOU Can! Or atleast you should be able to with low flying Heli's in a Hover!
Would also work great for bench testing a Planes Prop RPM's & it's not too bad of a price either!

Check this out! Here

I was going to just put it in the UFLY thread but thought everyone might like
to see this...(or NOT) but it used reflector tape just like a timing light and a Photo Sensor to read the RPM's.

What do You guys Think? Sometime HF comes up with a decent Product..not often..I'll admit.. but sometimes. Hope it's Not junk!

There is a much easier and safer way to do this. Download HELIPORT VERSION 0.17 (free download). It is an accoustic tachometer that works on a laptop via the built in microphone. Take laptop on driveway and set delay timer on tach software to 30 seconds. Get into a constant hover and at 30 second mark your headspeed will be recorded and visible to you when you land. Works great...

These types of tachs have been available for more than 10 years:

Minature Aircraft made one (p/n 0524) was well.

Best part of using these as you can tach your bird at over 500 ft away if you want and in calm and windy conditions. Audio tachs are limited in both conditions.
