Ultralight Designs by JDT "Really Nice!"

Hi Folks,

We get our ideas for models from various sources. This ad
from JDT really catches my interest. Some very neat designs
that might lend themselves well to foam crafting. I hope to
eventually do a couple of them and perhaps a builders log with
the companies permission. Still waiting. Meanwhile, the following
advertisement is in the public domain and I offer it in hopes it
might spur thought in others in what I think offers some neat
ideas. Also some really nice grapics that might inspire some neat
paint jobs. Happy flying. Warm regards, Jim

I can see why you like them, Jim.
I bet the designer of those planes was a model builder.

Hi Whiskers,

Yep, isn't that some neat designs? I'm just sorry that I'm so far over the hill that
I want be able to build the real one. LOL! That green Tundra model and the blue
seaplane are going to be hard for me to choose between.

I sent an email to the company and Mr. Trump, the owner replied that he would be
glad to have us model the planes as long as we place his Web address on a wingtip
just as they are on the originals. He even offered to provide a set of plans for our
use. Seems his draftsman is a RCM RC addict too. LOL! Anyway, I'm looking forward
to building this one. For whatever reason it struck my fancy. It's just plain pretty.
Warm regards, Jim

It will need a pilot for sure. It would look just too weird as a 'ghost plane'
And he or she must have rudder peddles that move.

I agree Whiskers,

This plane really does need a pilot. Something lighter than a GI Joe I'm thinking.
Maybe a jumpsuit with fiberfill and hands, boots, and head attached. Keep the
weight down. Or maybe a profile foamie pilot. I've seen them used and I think
Stevens Aero might have used one or two.

Anyway, I just had a successful maiden of an STS and it flew quite nice in the first
windless evening for a while now. I flew until I could barely see her. LOL!
Next project is this new Aero Max. It really trips my trigger. Almost a profile but
probably enough room to hid the electrics and battery with some planning. Time
will tell. Warm regards, Jim

It is cool, isn't it. A 'full fuse' that's almost a profile.
I look forward to seeing what you do with it

Hi Whiskers,

There have been a couple of high wing profiles on here that were quite popular
and excellent flyers. If memory serves, Mr. Bond designed a couple of them.
Thats Gene, not James. LOL! Anyway, I'm thinking about laminating the fuse
out of 1/2" or 3/4" blue poly from Lowes along with blue fanfold outer laminate.
The first wing will probably be a rolled fanfold and then I'd like to try it with a
hot wire foam core wing for comparison. I'm putting together a hot wire cutter
this weekend. I've been wanting to play with one for some time.

Here are some pictures that Mr. Trump sent me last night set to music.

Jim, you should not have shown me that. Now I want one
It will be a very nice flying model and such a change from all those Cubs and Cessnas that infest the sky.

The airplane designs look like you ride them much like a motorcycle. Kind of like "Hells Angels with Wings"!!! It looks like a fun idea to start with. I wonder how much the riders weigh that come on the cheap motorcycle kids toys?

Hi HF,

I'm going to do some shopping next week and see what I can find. Wish someone
would make GI Joes out of foam.; LOL. I did an ultralight last year where I removed
the plastic body and attached hands, boots and head with hot glue. Worked pretty
well. But if ya see anything neat out there, let me know where to look. Warm
regards, Jim

Hey Whiskers,

I totally agree! If I were a young man, I'd mortgage the ranch for one of those. Looks
like an Ultimate Toy for us boys. LOL! I'm thinking it will be a good flyer for RC as well.
It just Looks right for it. Will probably have a new backyard flyer. A position currently
held by the STS. I put 3 batteries through mine before dark today. What a pleasure
to finally get a completely wind free evening.

If that picture video got your attention I've got another for ya.

Hey Whiskers,

When I clicked on it it took me to a brochure. I couldn't seem to
get it right so removed it and put in another video. Sorry. Jim

Innovation in light aircraft from a modeller - what a concept- Take that! FAA - The future is coming and you better get out of the 60's and get with the real world.
