F3A world championship: J.Shulman and Thunder Power

Well, Jason, after having the 4th place during most of the championship finished 7th which is still an excellent place against all glow fuel plane:
>1 Ch. PAYSANT-LE ROUX FRA
>2 Quique SOMENZINI ARG
>3 Chip HYDE USA
>4 Tetsuo ONDA JPN
>5 Yoichiro AKIBA JPN
>6 Masato KUSAMA JPN
>7 Jason SHULMAN USA
>8 Roland MATT LIE
>9 Bernd BESCHORNER GER
>10 Wolfgang MATT LIE

As a French, I am happy to see for the third consecutive time CPLR at the first place, and as a TP fan, to see Jason in such a good place.
Here was his setup:
Hacker C50 13XL geared 6.7-1
Hacker Master 77 ESC
10S4P-2100 ThunderPower LiPoly flight pack
20x13 apc-e Prop

and here was a comment on his plane: "HOLY COW, WHAT AN ELECTRIC!!! I have NEVER dreamed of this kind of performance. You would SWEAR that Jason had a YS 140DZ or an OS 140 EFI in it! UNLIMITED vertical, with 15 minutes flying time!!! Chip had told me earlier not to worry about Jason.... Man, was he right! This thing is almost undetectable sound-wise in the air! Super quiet! It checks about 93db on the ground, but is really quiet in the air. Kind of sounds like a turbo-prop at a long distance away....COOOOLLLLL!!! "

Unfortunately this is not correct. Look at the points and you'll see Luc is right....

Jason was fourth up until the Semifinals, but then dropped back a little. Still, not bad amongst so many excellent pilots...

I read somewhere that in the contest he had to use 10s3p pack to be under 5kg weight limit.

Professional idiot
For a bit more info see this thread in the open forum or this long one in the sports forum

That final scores table confused the heck out of me as well, would have been nice if they had ordered it on final position rather than starting position

Hello Luc and thank you everyone who worked so hard for this project.
congratulation Jason and thanks for your hard work.

Aeromodel originally tested the system with TP7800-10s4P and TP8200-10s4p, both have great power but slightly over 11 lbs.
The option is to use a smaller TP receiver pack to bring the weight down.

But the final desicion was TP 6100-10s3p with the original receiver pack.
Last week, we just reduced the weight of 2050 cell. future project is possible to use TP 8200-10s4p and TP receiver pack for even greater power.

Regards,
Charlie

Congratulations to you as well as Jason for raising the stature of electrics in such a spectacular fashion.

Please can you advise us which charger Jason used for charging his packs?

Thanks

Hi Gordon, I think he used the Schulze 636.
By the way, I have include some video clips of last MWE in our new website.
www.thunderpower-batteries.com
Also France has provide some nice collections of electric aircrafts ready to try with TP cells.(see user reports)

Charlie

Kevin,

I think you are right. The listing is starting position entering the finals with scores (not shown here) following. Still Jason did great and raised the bar for electric flight.

As soon as the fuel cell hit market a combo between fuel cell and
Charlie . They will limit elec to a special area or make us take xtra
weight. Does any one won't to buy stock in NiCads at this time.
Of course i guess Nicads are good for boats. CU
