Jet pump drive info

Greetings,

Looking for info from the guys that really know the hobby.

I'm trying to locate a jet pump for a large scale RC boat that will use a 5 to 10 hp electric motor; thinking something like a mini version of what is used on a PWC/ Jet ski.

Speed required is not fast, something on the order of 5 mph min, 10 mph max.

Big boat, 48 inches long x 30 inches wide, 150 to 200 lbs, lots of drag and salt water.

Good acceleration is desirable, and 5 second bursts are intended, so efficiency for acceleration is desirable, rather than for speed.

This drive does not have to be steerable, although left right, up down.

I understand this project is asking for something likey way outside of the ordinary.

If no pumps are available, then I would want suggestions for a screw solution that I can put a grate over, allowing water to pass through, but not fingers.

Hoping to find off the shelf products for this.

Any help or suggested source greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Eric

This uses a jet drive and is electric, not sure on details of the drive though:

If you can find more details of it, you might find a useful drive.

You intend to have a 200lb hull at 48" long float? I would've thought that would easily sink.
The hobbyking jet drive and a 6 or 7kW motor would work if you were spinning 10-20k rpm, anything more than that wouldn't be reasonable. Not ure how fast it would go but you should definitely get 5 mph, probably get it on plane depending on the hull type. Do you have plans or a design drawn up? That could help.
