Over a mile away but in an open area.
Found in 30 min., zero damage. Here's footage from the following day. To the fun police: These are my neighbors, my hood. They're used to my BS and know where to come knockin if a 900mm piece of EPP hits their garden gnome.

I have a leftover power system from an old build: Park 480, HS 55's, Spektrum RX. Will this setup work in the 900mm Pop Wing? Thanks for any insight.

The kv of the motor is probably too low and you would need too large of a prop.

EDIT: Wrong! - see below

Funny you mentioned the 480. I've been testing an Eflite park 480 1020kv on 4s with my 900mm wing. Currently it's running 4s 2800mah, 8x6 APC. 20a draw @full, 7-8a cruise. An 8x4 worked well too, 17a draw @full. This is with the weight of a 3s 850mah up top, and FPV gear.

Well I stand corrected.
Didn't know it run on 4s.
I guess it would even work on 3s.
Thanks for the info.

3s would work with a larger prop (10x6 or 11x6). With lower kv, 4s should be ok as long as you don't exceed the max rated watts/amps. I found the sweet spot with an 8x6.

Short cruise @beach with the popwing. Pushing further with the park 480 on a 4s 2800mah, 8x6 APC.

Check my most recently blog post as of the moment for more information on my FPV PopWing v2.0 build - coming soon to my YouTube channel!

Yo everybody,

So recently I've been building a lot of FPV setups on here, and I've got the itch to get another setup for myself up and flying. I LOVED my old PopWing, it was a great FPV platform. 25 to 30 minute flight times, small, durable, fast and agile. Overall it flew great! After a while though, it was pretty beat up and ripped apart after I did so many modifications to it. So I ordered a new PopWing kit, this time the painted version

For the most part I'll be running a very similar setup on this one. However, this one will be laminated

The setup will include:

-900mm NitroPlanes PopWing KIT
-Lightweight Laminate (10 feet)
-ExceedRC 1360kv ~52g Motor
-FLiPower 30 Amp ESC w/BEC
-6x6 Pusher Prop (to be tested)
-1350mAH 3S 30C EFlite Battery
-Two 9g Suppo Servos
-FrSky FASST TFR6-A 6ch RX
-200mw 5.8 GHz vTX (and RX) - EDIT: 150mw 1.3 GHz vTX + 900mhz/1.3 GHz RX
-PZ0420 or 520 TVL FPV Cam - EDIT: 480 TVL Micro Cam
-SpiroNet Antennas (to be tested)
-8'' LCD FPV Monitor on the Ground
-Probably a 2200 mAH 3S for the RX + TV - EDIT: Probably a 1300 mAH 3S instead

The FPV setup will operate similarly to this one that I just recently shipped out to a member on here (but I don't have a GoPro HERO3 to plug in ):

I'll be using a tap lead off of the main 3S battery with a filter (top right, one of those) to eliminate some RF noise from entering the system. ESC and RX are ready to be glued into the foam with some painter's tape to keep it all nice and clean.

I can't wait to get back into FPV! In the future I'll also be buying one of those keychain cameras with the "D" lens for some good HD footage from the PopWing.

Stay tuned!

I'll be laminating this one and probably be using it for FPV as well like my old one!

New Pop Wing Build

Just finished my first Pop Wing build. Made some modifications I think added to the utility and flight characteristics of my Pop Wing. Maiden was uneventful, I lucked-out on the setup and got close to perfect. This wing flies great, lots-o-fun, all smiles here

IN the building process of the exact same popwing! My starboard elevon is not nearly as mobile as the port. It appears to be a tad thicker on the material left behind when it was made. Any recommendations on dealing with this? Scott
