tested the motor with full battery pack. It started at 30amps and settled to 26-27amps static. Motor did run fine untill now.
Still too windy in Holland... hopefully Thursday maiden

I'm just starting to play with 3D type things too. The BuckHuck looks super, but I didn't want a balsa plane to "learn" on. Here's what I went with for a starter 3D plane and so far I have NO regrets:

If that's the stock motor you were testing I can see why they only last a few minutes!!

That's about DOUBLE the amps that little 28-30 can take!

As a comparision, E-flite Park480's with 11" props pull about 27a at full throttle....

I agree. No way did I want to start with a balsa. Right now I am learning on a 3D Hawk. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1231846 I have only had her up in the air twice. Keep having problems with the motor ripping out of the foam. I am currently in the process of replacing it then hopefully the fun will begin.

Prefectionist
I build my own Dollar store foamies for practicing 3d. Nothing like having a plane that's worth $30.00 ready to fly to beat around and not care about crashing.

but of course...it should not smoke anyhow
The motor had already quit during flight and during a subsequent run up on the ground (with the prop on) it started smoking. With the recommended 2200 mAh battery you could smell the motor toasting itself. I took it home and tried it with the smaller pack without the prop and that is what you see in the video. It was already toast by that point. Even unloaded, a motor that comes recommended for a 2200 shouldn't smoke after 5 seconds at full throttle on a 1300.

someone needs to get a video of this thing flying. i have a blue one coming but it wont be here till next week. slow shipping. does the plane have carbon fiber bracing in the wings and stabs? HK doesn't even tell you how much room for battery like they have listed for other models.
are the wheels big enough to land on short grass or do you need pavement? hope to see a vid soon thanks guys.

yes, but it did hold and keep in mind that it is "static".
in the air it is less, unless you go vertical and for sure it will go vertical this plane!

If Multiplex would release this as frame for Euro 89--, everybody would purchase it. That is how I see it.
Servos that are build in now, do centre a bit slow...but centre. And if it flies well, no problem to add HS-65hb and another motor if this one starts to smoke.
The ESC seems to be good, but I wonder what type it is. There is no manual.

I can not wait untill the first flight...
