My custom 73" SBACH 342 at SEFF

Here ya go folks. I promised you'd see it after I got to SEFF, but i couldnt get photos uploaded until I got home.

FiremanBill helped me get it ready and we put just 2 flights on it to make sure it was there for the folks from Castle to see it.

Thanks go to Castle Creations for the ICE HV 80 and BEC Pro, Hobby Lobby for the AXI, Thunder Power for the 10S 5000 45C lipos, Air 2 Art for the killer paint job and Redwing RC for the custom covered ARF.

The green looks stunning in the air too, simply a beautiful paint job on a great looking airframe that flys awesome!

I cant wait to hear what the local yokals have to say about it when I get it out to the local field to fly it.

Laine.

Added a couple more pictures. I also downloaded the in flight logging from the Castle ICE HV 80, shows 49 amps, 2700 watts, 6000 rpm.

Laine,
The only way that 'Bach could look any better is if it were sitting in MY stable. You gotta upload some vids when you get it back in the air.

I'll have it out at the local field in a few days if all goes well. Hope to get some video of it then.

Well I gotta say, one heck of a nice paint job. Unfortunately some big ugly guy caught up in the pics and kinda messed them up. Just kidding. BTW, have you hit your new duty station? Any word from Bo on the article for the troops?

I talked to Bo at SEFF but we didnt talk about the article. I do know he is working on it though. Not sure of his timeline however.

Laine,

I've been busy here and missed all the adventure around you getting to SEFF. The last I heard was that you were on alert due to the conflict in Libya. I'm glad that they turned you loose for the weekend. The Abach looks fantastic.

Thanks Ralph. The Libya thing was just an April Fools joke. Got quite a few people too. SEFF was a hoot man. The wife and I had a blast for 10 days straight.

Hi Laine,

has your SBACH 342 been in the air again after SEFF?
I always wondered what full scale airplane the SBACH is and were it comes from. Now I googled and found the following link:
http://www.xtremeair.de
Cool! Did you know the SBACH 300 and 342 are designed, build and distributed from the eastern part of Germany (former GDR). I didn't even imagine.
Have a look at the "Composite Solutions" page. Nice facilities.
The place is only 150 miles eastwards from were I live.

Whenever you are over here we should drive over and pay them a visit, shouldn't we?

Hey Thomas, I sure did get it in the air. Took it out a week ago or so and had a great flight with it. Turns out, the reason for the "incident" at SEFF was my tail wheel was too tall and had the tail up too high in the air.

I was aware that the company that makes the SBACH was in Germany. Pretty close to you guys too! If I make it over there again, we are gonna have to go check it out.

Laine.
