Trust me, you will get alot of people saying that this is your bird!

Also, what else have you flown, and what radio gear do you alreay own?

Well, let me throw in the Tantrum. You can't fly much slower without going backwards. It will 3D. I can't. yet!

Great plane. Not for the beginner, but once you have ailerons down, it is a go.

FSP,
I believe you have the ailerons thingy down.

I think the Tantrum is the one. Check the videos and you will see what I'm talking about.

If you like EPP foam, the new Pigi from Hobby-Lobby is very good. Here is the link. Also, check out the video to it, it hovers like crazy!

I saw a pigi up close. I was really surprised how "loose" the foam was.

I'd have to recomend the Tantrum, Nemesis, Or the soon to be Miss June. I've seen or had them, and they are all top notch.

For 3D I would second the three planes Jon listed.

FSP, what area of Texas are you in? If you're around Dallas, you could at least see how my brushless Nemesis flies, it's a kick!

What is your definition of loose foam? Was it how it was put together or the foam actually flimsy? Mine is rock solid and doesn't hurt anything in a crash like balsa. Don't get me wrong, I am not against balsa, I have gassers and electrics that are balsa.
I guess its just if you want to build or not, of course, I don't know if you call building the Tantrum building or assembling?

Well, For example, the horizontal stab, you can tkae it and pull it up to about 60 degrees, without it brakeing. It is a very stylish plane, but I just dont know how strong it is...Not saying it isnt good

Gee, I don't know, this guy has only flown Tiger Moths, the mighty GWS Zero, and a twin electric (glow doesn't count ) ...... Might not be able to handle more acrobatic electrics LOL . JUST KIDDING .....

Here is link to Tantrum Review :

BTW, it has taken my son about 4 hours to frame all the parts of this beast. Almost has it all covered tonight....... Assembly goes very 'quick'. I think he hopes to fly it in the morning......

How do some of these "non-foam" planes handle the abuses that 3D newbies would inflict? In other words, I'm scared of balsa.

Thanks

I put my Pigi in the ground hard more than once and had it back in the air in around 20 minutes. I have 8 balsa 3D planes. If any of them had gone in like the Pigi they would be no more!

So Pigi gives you confidence to go to your personal edge and push it farther?
