The wing load is higher not lower but not much.
Beast wing area 83.8 sq in with 2.36 oz weight
Sbach wing area 65 sq in with 1.95 oz weight
I think it need the same space like the Beast.

Cool plane! BUT, what is the interest of making such so small planes for outside? The wing loading is high, thus the plane flies fast, and the visibility is poor.

Slower flights could be achieved with a bigger WS (20" for example). Slower flights are more fun and safer.

Unless Horizon Hobby wants people to crash their plane in short time and buy replacement parts...

That is definately an opinion. I think fast AND slow is fun, but it also depends on the application; hence why I have more than one plane. Slow and fast can both be dangerous, but as long as your following safe practices, you have nothing to worry about.

That's EXACTLY what HH wants...

There's a beautifully maintained soccer field/park close to where I live that's perfect for a fast UM plane. You really have to torque a UM plane hard into the thick turf to cause any damage. I have a lot of fun doing quick circuits with my UM Sukhoi-XP. I expect to have a lot more fun with the UMX Sbach. I also like larger planes, but I prefer to fly them at a field that's more suited to their size.

Mike, HH,

Many thanks for that informative video.
The new board is an excellent idea!

The UM Sukhoi opened my eyes to the joys of ultra-micro flight.
The UM 4-site hooked me for life on the convenience of driveway/front yard flight.
The UMX Beast is a wonderful, high performance blend of both planes for me.
Flying the Beast off my driveway is childhood fantasy/reality stuff!

A big Thank You for the upcoming UMX Sbach!
Brushless 2S Power/Precision Performance in an ultra-micro plane is the bees knees!!

That video shows a plane I can hardly wait to get my hands on. As an old pattern and pylon flyer it doesn't look scary to me

Odd! I think the interest is Ultra Micro planes? For either large indoor or outdoor areas. My 2cell 50g Sukhoi 26m has high wing loading, can fly at walking pace and would spank this plane in the vertical! Just because it flys fast doesn't mean you have to. Surely one keeps their model within their visible ability?
I have been building and flying models for 20+ years and only recently have model companies started producing amazing UM models, it would be going backwards if they started increasing the size, there are already slow 20" models available.

So for me It's another must have, clear canopy, Beautiful, Fast! Thanks HH

The plane fly easier than bigger planes and the wing loading is also lower than the most bigger planes with the exception of pure 3D flyer and it can fly fast and slow. It hover with a little wing rock but you can fly with only 1 mph speed and the 2:1 thrust/weight ratio pull the plane very quick from every critical situation.

micro planes have a lot of advantages

-easy transportation, also many different types possible
-nearly unlimited flying places
-low storage place consumption
-low energy consumption (unlimited flying times with cheap batteries)
-more crash resistance

My hovercraft is full of eels.
Pretty cool video.

After being disappointed with the weak power systems in the original Sukhoi and Micro 4-Site, I started building my own foamies to get the performance I wanted and to save money. These UMX models are NOT helping me save money!!!
