post card

I guess it's pretty clear from this thread that the three _good_ things with this plane are Looks, Easy to repair, and Price. On the other side of the post card: high wing load and tip staller: not for 3D at all; hard to trim right; hardware with lots of quality issues.

If you want a cheap, but unforgiving, acrobat with good looks, and you are prepared to quickly replace servos, maybe Esc and motor, this is your plane. If you want 3D or a plane that's easy to fly, look elsewhere.

MY 5c worth,
Jonas

agree!! I absolutely love a foam biplane that I got from Nitroplanes, so It is not that I am a foam snob. This plane just isn't worth your time and money. Small money, but it is still going to be wasted.

flying or crashing into air?
wizzard363's Avatar
This model has its faults but its a good thrasher
I got mine back in the air the other day after it being in the shed for over 6 months . Put a few packs through it and had a ball .
Its no 3D machine and I have replaced servos and esc , still got original motor . I think one wing has a slight bow it but I don't really want to look too hard nothing a bit of trim wont fix (The tree landing after LVC might have something to do with it)
My Dynam Pitts Python is a lot better model but this one can still be fun and its tough as nails
Would I buy another one ? NO

Hello guys.

I picked one of these up a few days ago, replaced the servos with Savox servos. 3.9 kg in the wing and 10kg savox for rudder & elev.(dont laugh - they will be transplanted into my 50cc once i finished building it.)

Did a few mods as listed on here..one of which im changing the hinges to Robartson hinges. Also thinking about glassing it later on + a better esc/motor when its glassed with a custom spray job.

Got a nanotech 4s 4500mah 25 - 50c for it and balances qui nicely with it. Will see how things go once i maiden her.

I replaced the landing gear with the carbon fibre version and works a treat. I put the mx2 down pretty hard over the weekend and the landing gear held up to the challenge. The only issue is the tail gear, it completely busted off. Any ideas on a suitable mod to replace it

Cheers

Bought a hobby king MX2 on an impulse when they offered free shipping last week (normally $80 shipping to my address). After reading this thread now thinking 'oh sh*t, what have I done!!!!'

So they fly like a tank but they are fun and look briliant in the air. Finally crashed mine hard enough to require a strip and rebuild, all good except for the engine mount. Its in one piece but bent to one side. Can anyone tell me if these originally had much right thrust built in or should it be pretty well straight , ie in line with the fuse centreline.....??????

quite a bit of right. 2-3mm shorter on the firewall on the right hand side should do it

Hi,

Any opinions from personal experience flying it as to why the HK 1400mm MX2 isn't such a good flyer. Is the airframe poorly designed?

Thanks,
Ken
