devIAtion..one TX to bind them

Hello all,

Picked up the Breitling version today, on a bit of an impulse buy. Threw it together in an hour and headed off to the field...

I have to say, this being my first "3D" plane, it was great! I know there are problems, landing gear issues, and a couple of minor things.

But this was a lot of fun to fly.... anyway, just wanted to say hello, I'll be reading over the thread for some tips.

Cheers

Yeah it is fun. I really miss mine, it was cool how fast it was and how it would track across the sky in fast forward. It's a fun plane for sure.

This plane is very durable! Wish I didn't have to know that...

I've put about 6 flights on it now and abot 50% of those ended in a very hard landing, with a kind of flat cart wheel.

At first I was a bit disappointed in the motor mount, it bacame loose after the first hard landing. Then I realized that if the foam around the mount hadn't given a bit, I'd be looking for a new motor right now....

My canopy blew off a couple times too.

All-in-all great $135 plane.... too bad mine was $260

There must be a problem with yours as mine from HK has heaps of power
Have you set the throttle range for the esc ?
What size battery are you running ?

I use the NTM motor on my MX2, awesome thrust, point to the sky and open the throttle! I am running it on 14x8 apc and 4S 2200mAh and 2650mAh.

But the stock motor was pretty good, I only replaced because mine failed.

If you are only making 360 watts, something is wrong, should be a fair bit more then that. Like wizzard said, calibrate throttle. And check motor for bad bearings, loose wires etc.

All else fails, go the NTM motor you linked, I am running on stock (70A) ESC no probs, but using a separate UBEC as its not good running anything more then 3S on a linear BEC like im assuming the stock one is. And im using digital servos all round.

Hey all.
Just as an update, the KMP Breitling version that I bought (was a gift actually, I wasn't going to get it because of the price, but my mom said "just get it, I'll buy it for you"). Anyway, here's the link, but just wanted to point out that the specs on the page were wrong. Mine came with a 42-50 motor and 70amp esc. Will report back with watts when I get a flight in. I've installed the FrSky FAS-100 amp meter so I'll be able to see the watts in flight.

Speaking of that, there's not alot of room in there for electronics is there....

You've got the 3D version. The motor draws about 65A with a fresh 4s battery and stock prop: around 900 W. Enjoy!

Paint

I have heard that the finish on this plane flakes off easily. Has anyone tried spraying it with a Polycrylic or similar product to protect the finish? I am thinking that some satin Polycrylic spray would do well and look good. Thoughts?
