No range test...took apart tx...don't know much about it yet but I didn't see any wires attached to where the antenna screws in...I couldn't find the pcb/transmitter tune post also
The light on the PCB lights up everytime its over the tx.

The little round pot in the upper left corner is the RX. You can get a tiny flathead screwdriver in an tune it to some extent. Follow the link below.

Here is a link to Ribble's post on tuning

Hope this helps!

if i convert my tail motor to direct drive what motor would i need and does it have t be a brushed or brushless motoro
Feb 18, 2013, 06:40 PM
This biggest problem you have with a direct drive tail in finding a compatible 7.4v motor. If you put on the HBFP direct drive kit, it won't keep up due to it being an 11.1V motor as is the HBFP. I went to a direct drive tail when I had it at 11.1V with an Esky cp3 3n1. I flew really well. You just can't find a 7.4V good brushed tail motor. That is the biggest problem. You can get a brushless and get a converter, but tail response will be slow since the brushless motor cannot change speed as fast as brushed. I am going to build a direct drive (brushless) variable pitch tail for my old 9104 a little later once I get the 450 up and dialed in with the one I built for it. Then, no more tail motor problems.

That is the best thing you ca n do at this point. They suppose to last a little longer than stock. Good Luck!

Its Alive!!!

Hey 9104 people!

Remember the phrase: 'Just can leave well enough alone' ? Well, that describes me to the T.

Here are the latest mods of my 9104! It is really hard to even call it that any longer. Sure, it has the same frame, rotor, swash (from last 3 servo mod), and nose, but that is it. I drill out the tail holder and put a 450 boom. This holds my (2nd) DDVP tail and servo. I cut it to length and is about 1 inch longer. The servo is setting rather far back until I find another longer servo rod. I have a GY48V to control the tail. Inside the motor area is a 4400kv (actually had to cut part of the bottom out) running a 13T pinion. With the current main gear and at 2S (2200mah battery under the hood), it hits around 2600 (average) head speed at 90% throttle. A smaller motor will come later. If I want more, I drop in a 3S! But, I still have to test it first. I put an old 40Amp ESC in front and waiting on a 12Amp ESC for the rear. I think it should need 250 rear blades as the 1500kv might move a little too much air for this thing. At 8V avg, that would put it at 12000 rotor speed. It is slightly tail heavy, but a few ounces plumbers putty will do the trick in the nose. The next things really needed are a better tail grip (Tarot Thrust) and a metal swash.

It is just a test and if you are bored, as I was, you might attempt it, but do so at your own risk! Once it lives, it might have a mind of its own! I will keep the thread updated once the ESC gets in.

i just got a new tail assembly for a 9104 put this on,now tail motor works but both main and tail spin clockwise and no mater which direction i put the stick in it stay on and spins clockwise
Feb 27, 2013, 10:58 PM
Yes, it the new tail motor is working! Working too good as it sounds as if it is getting full voltage and overpowering the torque of the main. Hmmmm. It should be with the throttle and turning just enough to hold. Then when you turn the nose right, it should speed up and left, slow down. Try rebinding the TX and RX. I never had that problem.

i reversed the blue and white wire for the tail motor now the tail spins counterclockwise and the main spins clockwise but the tail still spins all the time it still dosn't make a difference which position the transmitter is in and it spins at almost full throttle.
Feb 28, 2013, 05:42 PM
In the correct polarity, the motor will push air from left to right trying to counter the force of main motor. So, if you looking at the heli with tail nearest you, the tail will push air to the right. Why it continues to spin at full speed baffles me, also.

i'am wondering if the pc might be bad it spun so hard the tail hit a pole in my basement and i think that is when the tail went full throttle in either direction of the transmitter but not sure that was when i first put the new tail motor on

the gyro may have been damaged. You would need another pcb then.
