Vic Smeed's designs

Hello, greetings from Colombia. I hope this thread sticks, as someone said before. I am posting some obscure Smeed designs that I have in my magazine and book collection. Let's have as many plans as possible from the master sport model designer who passed away on January this year. He deserves it as a homage and we modellers from all over the world who still appreciate a nice looking high performance balsa made sport model like Mr. Smeed used to create. Let's perpetuate his name and model airplanes for as long as this planet exists.

Hi Edubarca. I see you're in Colombia. Can you give me information about flying activity around Bogota? I'll be moving there in August. I know this is off-topic. I did try the "regions-Colombia" forum, but my Spanish is inadequate (learning is top of my to-do list). Thanks, and apologies for being off-topic.

Are you referring to Vic Smeed's "Gamin" which was published in his book "Aeromodelling" of 1965 by Foyles? This beautiful model doesn't have rounded wing tips. This plan was posted by me here.

Eduardo,
From memory, Vic also published a "Gamine", relatively recently, I think within the last 10 years or so.
Vic was a very cultured person, and I'm sure he considered it normal that the "feminine" version should have rounded tips, etc.!
Ray will certainly know more about the plan, but here's the model, built by Andy Brough of SAM35, I think.

The Gamine was the free plan given with September 2011 RCM&E, and I think was his last plan. You can probably get it from the publisher, who I think is Traplet

Agree!! Vic was not only as genius, he also was very cultured and a real gentleman. We all miss him so much. If anybody has the plan it would be very nice to post it here or on Outerzone for all of us to share and enjoy.

"Unfortunately" is right. Plan now 12.50 ( about $20) plus postage - what a rip off. Can't help with the plan as I don't have the copying facilities but I can send an article scan by e-mail to anyone interested.
