With the increasing size of my fleet.
I've been wanting a trailer to haul my airplanes around for some time now.
The project started some time ago. With the basic lader frame welded up last spring.
I'm doing this as a build thread in my blog, in hopes to inspire help or otherwise encourge anyone else who is thinking of doing the trailer idea.
This last week a lot of things came together and I found one of those TUIT's
It was even round so no more excuses.
Just to wet who ever's appitite here's a couple of starter pictures.
The wheels are on for the first time and I wanted to see how level the trailer is behind my 20 year old Honda.
The primary basic ladder is made from 2 inch square thin wall tubeing. 0.062" wall thickness.
The axles that I ordered are mostly used for motorcycle trailers; and are rated at 660 lbs.

I wanted something very low to the ground and light weight so as not to be tempted to use it for yard work.

What covering material are you planning on?

I was going to go with Monokote
OK seriously; planning on using 0.040" aluminum sheet. for the front and sides
1/2" plywood for the bottom
The top and back will be left open; and I'll get a canvas tonneau cover like you see on pickup trucks. It just needs to keep the wind out.
As the airplanes will need to be secured on there own. Old shoes for wheel chocks; won't cut it in a trailer.

Glad you spotted it.
The plan is fenders this set of days off.

I haven't updated this for a while. The trailer now has fenders sides and a floor.
Just needs a tonneau cover to keep the wind out and each airplane will get a custom holding bracket.
