Alien Aircraft, Cessna 310

While not true scale this Tom Herr design has built into a very cute, recognisable little twin. Waiting on the adhesive to arrive so that I can cover in MicaFilm ------ just have to see those stringers/spars with the sun shining through.

Hey, now that's a great looking little twin. Where did you find it? What's the wing span?

It is a kit put out by Alien Aircraft Corp ---- C-310B. Span is 42", weight approx 21oz, 3 x 1300 pack. Base kit price $110 (all balsa/ply parts to complete airframe).

Thanks for the details. That's a decent price too. Keep us posted on your progress.

Sharp build, Barry! Always was a fav, as a kid, watching Sky King.

Do you have a link to the MFR?

Alien Aircraft's little Cessna 310 ready to fly. Micafilm, Himax, Castle, 1600 pack. Was fun building from sticks again.

Nice work killickb. I just ordered mine last evening from Alien, I also got a Raven acro plane and a Dragon seaplane. I'm already working out ideas making the front L.G. steerable. I'd love to do retracts too but probably not feasible. I don't think I can find a set thats small and LIGHT enough.

How long did it take you to frame yours up??

Taildrgger55, I installed gws retracts in my Raven, worked, but a little week, so I enlarged the Raven by 10% and installed Robart mini retracts. Worked much better. Here is a short video of the model.

Thanks EdLokken, retracts may be feasible after all.

There must be some more 310's out there by now? Pics/videos? I found some nice chrome spinners that fit motors and props that I am using --- Maxx Products. They are plastic but no vibration at any throttle setting. After many flights I wish I had added steerable nose gear but would have to "dessemble" to add now!

Beautiful and always liked the 310. Now there's one of the few kits I'd actually consider building, being designed by someone that knows what they're doing. I had the Herr Cherokee which was given to a flying buddy, but this one's more interesting, being a twin and designed with ailerons.

I know this thread is a bit old, but am looking for an update. I would like to build one, but am concerned with the fixed nose gear. How does it perform for ground control.. Has anyone converted to steerable? If so,any details?
