the inside thrust bearings are dont, now i gotta build the outside seal assembly.
works beautiful by hand, but if i apply load.....hard to turn.
example....if the motor puts out 6lbs of thrust, and the boat weights in at 4 lbs fully loaded....i need a motor/gearbox that can handle atleast 12lbs of rotation.
gonna have to brain storm this one.

heres a working vid!
driven by a servo.

photo bucket drags on my computer, making the trim look twitchy.
but its pretty smooth on my end.
servo has enough power to lift the entire boat.

If you put thrust bearings on both sides of the metal bracket you should be able to stop the forces from making it to the motor.

the way its designed....a front thrust bearing isnt needed.
the load only transfers forawd during trim up.
during trim down, the load is again pushing foward.
the screw drive isnt connected to the motor in anyway.
no pull back on the system.
the motor is free floating,in the event that i hit something....i dont rip my trim system up....just kicks the motor up.

the outside shaft seal assembly.
made another aluminium cup,cut and installed 2 soft foam inserts from a cheap, common paint ball squeegie.also used a spacer from the squeegie.
as i tighten the screws to the transom, the yellow tube compresses the foam tighter around the shaft.
making a tighter seal.
ill lube with silicone lube, water should do the rest.
should be ready for a float trim water test in a few hours.

just pool tested with throttle and trim only....im impressed.
at full throttle thr trim works just fine.after about 8 cycles of the trim, the servo starts to heat up.
guess a stronger servo is in the future.
the boat looks great in the water,no leaks.

built the servo and reciever mount.
installed a traxxas waterproof servo, ill run a xl-5 esc for now.
i hate the double tap brake before reverse option though.
difficult on a stick radio.
hopefully i can continue on her, possibly ride her this afternoon.

Looks good, i think direct drive may be too much for the servo................no?

for this servo....maybe.
its a weak stock axial servo.
somewhere i have a hitec 645mg.....ill swap that one in once i find it.
if i have too ill go 1/4 scale.

the thrust bearing takes the load, the servo just needs to provide the power.
i was looking for some gear to add a inline 2:1 ....but couldnt find anything.

How about a high voltage servo and run it on the same voltage as a standard servo so it has less rpms, but still has torque?
