All Parts Made and just Temp Put together as a Mockup

I think I am maybe 3/4 done on the construction of the plane. All the major parts are made and just stuck together to look at it. It is in the above link started around April Fools Day 2011.
If you like home made aircraft, have a look at the assembly so far. The latest is the servos are all operational and I ran the motors. I am waiting upon 3 more APC props also. I may vacu-form some parts later too as time allows.

Oooh nice one Bob.
I studied all the Jap flying boats before building my Mavis.

I'll go & have a look at the build.

Hi Phil. Thank you for the big praise for posting another beauty . I like your model very much. It looks like it is a harder model to build as there are many compound curves on the plane.Setting up the wing struts is also demanding. Once she has all the markings on the plane it will really stand out beautiful. Isn't it great to be able to have a plane that kit manufacturers do not produce? I have seen one other Mavis flying I think in the RC Groups. Good luck on your flights.

Yesterday I ran the motors and controls for the first time. The only problem I had was the motor mounts kept loosening the set screws. I replaced them with socket screws and a jam nut with some Loctite. I have the videos posted in Webshots which is fair quality and size and good quality and full screen in Vimeo. The motors put out some good thrust.

Motor specs. Hextronic DT-700 and 750's. 2 each. The battery is a Turnigy 5000mah, 40-50c rated and the cells are 4S with 14.8volts. The props are APC 4 blade 10x6 pitch.

The motor thread is here:

Thank You Tochiro,
I wanted you to see her as it comes together. If you go to the Vimeo video pages in the website above have a look at my others. There is an Albatros and a real nice Me-109G-6 I scratchbuilt also in there. The build logs links are under the movies.

Thank You. I know. But, it has to fly as I built it for an Annual Waterfly Event later this year. Stay tuned as it progresses. I will have some video as it goes on.

After all the work going into the model creation I finally did the maiden today after 2 failed tries. I had to install beefier motors and it was all run off without a hitch. I can say it is complete now.
