Update

Got the removable deck built. Started on the log loading cranes. Used PVC pipe for crane mount. Thought I could find some 6cm dowel to shape the top part of the mount, but nothing that large. Used 8 cm square pine and cut it down with my band saw. Then sanded it to shape on the belt sander. Now starting construction of crane house. Got the dozer boats built and ready for painting.

The dozer boats are full R/C, right? . They look pretty cool.

Affraid not. It was tough enough just handling them to get the detail never mind R/C,ing.

Olscuzbut come on you have to at lest R/C one of the dozers. With the 2.4 equipment and 1.5 gram servos it should not be a problem. I did a 4.5 inch springer push tug using 75 mhz equipment and it has full lighting (6 spots and running).

The challenge

As you can see Gill, my dozer boat could probably sit nicely on the front deck of your springer push boat. (the small one) So the challenge would be to R/C it. Was tuff enough just building it. Besides, havn't seen any electronics that small.

Back to building

Got my brass rod order and got to work building a jig to keep everything even and equal. Boom sides worked fine, now tying it all together is going to be the fun part. Another jig, and it looks like it will work out.

update

As mentioned, very time consuming. Sure wish I had a small metal lathe. Hard to come up with brass pulleys. Will have to settle for wood right now.

I have a lathe that is just sitting collecting saw dust in my shop, never could get the hang how to use it, maybe we could do some trading. I live just a little south of Seattle.
