POST your AP contest entries HERE

Here is the next theme, as worded by the man himself:

Most Impressive Structure. Impressive could mean - size, architecture, location, history, etc... This will be a pretty open contest. Just show the best man made structure you can find. Extra credit for risk - such as close up of the White House. Just kidding, I don't wan't anyone getting arrested.

Please limit your entries to ONE post per contestant.
You may edit your post and change your picture as often as you'd like, before voting begins.

Commentary is OK (and encouraged) in this thread, the actual contest thread will contain only the photos.

Do you guys want me to keep the anonymous format like I did for the Air to Air?

Also, let me know what you'd like the deadline for entries to be.

One week? Two weeks?

Steve,

Feel free to remove or move my comments if you want to keep the thread clean.

I like the anonymous format. Not enough to fall over and kiss your feet, but 7 out of 10.

Two week submission period seems to be working, and we're cycling right along at just over 3 weeks. If I can't get a good entry, I don't feel as much pressure as I know another opportunity & new subject is coming up soon.

Great idea, Rob! Specific subjects are a healthy challenge, but broad ones have the potential for a wide variety of entries. I predict I'll be gaining some insight into how objects impressive on the ground look more or less so when viewed from the air...

The anonymous format with numbers was quite efficient.
Less distraction and confusion.

However, whatever the format... I must get my plane reassembled. Luckily I just got the epoxy and stickers needed to do that.

My trip to Giza

Here I am on vacation with my trusty Slowstick. I crashed into the Sphinx, and the cab driver says I broke the nose off. I don't know for sure, I was too busy checking out the toes on that camel...

Ok, since there aren't many others, I'll throw this in, but I reserve the right to witdraw it if there are any good ones. I can't stand the embarrasment of having it on the same page as some of the great shots that usually make it in. LOL

Anyway, it's a grain elevator. It's in Lettworth Louisiana. Nothing too special about it.

Can't seem to find the full size picture though...

Keith, if you get a better shot just edit your post and drop in a different picture...

Although, at the moment, you are the clear winner

Alright - here's my entry... The amazing thing about this structure is that I'll be working in it by the end of the year. I've also watched it being built, and taken photos of the site for over a year. A "full size" version of this collage is here:

http://rcgroups.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=3245

Click of the photo for the large version, but some browsers can't display it correctly. For a sequential version with some text (including dates), see:

Here is my entry. It's only a two dimensional structure, but it's
a man made structure. ((-;
A local farmer here in Gro-Umstadt Germany constructs every year another maze in the maize...
It's taken from about 400 m with Pentax Optio S on a swing
electro glider. ( A big thermal lifted the plane )
Hope you enjoy it !

Thanks Steve!! I thought that rascal was gone for good! Last I heard, it was coming back to the states from Europe. Looks like it's trying to make amends...

Edit: disliking the color balance of my harbour pictures, I decided to temporarily enter a photo of the isme circle -- a residential area on Tallinn city limit, right beside my favourite flying field.

Should I manage to select (or gain, since I have plans for this weekend ) a better picture, I will update my entry.
