Im all the way over in Sweden and I got the deal from Lindinger who I believe are located in Austria. They offer free shipping across Europe and because both Sweden and Austria are EU-countries there are no extra taxes or customs fees involved.

Lindinger have an offer on the 35e Extra for 149 Euro - just today. So with the free shipping and all that ends up at about half the price of what I would have to pay to get one shipped from the US. So the "deal" depends highly on where you live.

My Extra 330 arrived today! I did a quick check and it looks great so far. Wont be able to build it for a while though (no money for electronics), but I will update this thread when I do.

Okay guys, I just pulled the trigger - $225 delivered to my house, not a bad deal.

I will probably be selling the motor, in case anyone might be interested in one. I'm probably going with a Motrolfly 3615-750 with a 14x7. I've run this setup before and should be able to get 900w, so should work well based on the discussion here.

Ten minutes, and the wait is already killing me.

Anyway, thanks for the tips so far.

Welcome to the best kept secret in the world of RC! This plane is amazing on the Hyperion motor...can't image how crazy awesome it will be on the Motrolfly! Thinking about trying one of their motors on my 3DHS 55" Yak...

Yeah, if you've not tried one of Ken's winds, you're in for a treat.

Minis. I'm thinking about trying Solar D657 - 25g metal digi's.

85mg's should be fine.

Im starting to look into servos as well. Hitec 85mg's looks nice. A bit expensive but I think this plane might be worth it.

Do you use them on all control surfaces?
I guess I could use Hitec 81's for ailerons but on the other hand they might not be in the same class as 85's considering overall quality? They might not center as well and so on - I don't know? Specs are almost the same though. And do you really need metal gears, even on the elevator and rudder?

I very much feel like going all in with the 85mg's but on the other hand I wont be flying super hard 3D, my intent is to fly the Extra as an aerobatic plane.

Well, the nice thing about a set of 85mg's is the ability to move them from plane to plane. If there is ever a problem, just send them into Hitec for some repairs (usually inexpensive).

This way, you've got a reliable set of good mini metal servos.

My opinion is that a plane of this size and nature should have metal geared servos, even if one's immediate interest is only mild aerobatics - the urge to do more is capricious by nature.

My dilemna is whether to use the Solar servos from HPZ that I have coming. I got them to play with and see how good they are for $12 mini metal digi's. I've seen nothing but good reports on them.

I think you might be right about metal gears. Ive been flying mostly RTF foamies and small balsa planes so I havent really had to worry much about the quality of servos until now.

The 85mg's look nice however they seem a little slow (0.14 sec). Are they responsive enough for good aerobatics and 3D flying?

Ive never heard of the Solar ones before but that is definitely a good price.

Unless you're flying at the Expert level, the 85mg's should be fine. Experts who need that last degree of speed and power will opt for digi's.

Thank you for your good input, Steve.

Let us know how those Solar servos work out if you decide to give them a try.
