Devil-kite with 2 D-unit

i maiden my new 2-D devil-rc-kite today. i will add a video soon. the 2-D-devil fly`s very tight curves and climbs very fast. i used a new motor: the premier red V580. The motor has the same size as the premier V780, power is not so strong, but with a 750mAh lipo i fly over 15 minutes! vector-unit is the same as i used on my other 2-D-kites like rc-vectorman, rc-nose, rc-dart, rc-peak....
the devil is a single line from HQ-kites, wingspan 100cm, length 110cm, think it is only avaiable in europe, but i am not sure. i changed all the gfk-sticks into carbon, keel and cross sticks 4mm, all others 3mm. kite solo: 80 gramm, kite RTF 240 gramm.

Hi vectorflyer,

it's nice to see the exact controllability of such a vector kite, within the small space of Your garden, using only 1 servo for 2D - vectoring.

But, I think You'll agree - for some 'develish maneuvers', You might need a 3D vectoring

Good job!

2-D-jet

the jet is a dual-line kite from x-kites, size only 80cm x 80cm, printed sail.
The 2-D-vector unit is my new slime line construction which belongs to all my figurative kites (see thread) and is definitively to big for the jet (motor premier V580, metal gear servo, lipo 800mAh 11,1 Volt). But with a high CoG the jet makes nice rolls.
i will look for a jet with a bigger size.
by the way: commercial scratching of my 2-D unit is not allowed (all rights reserved)
thanks,

AOA or AOI Question on 2-D kites

Is there a rule for the angle of attack on a 2-D RC kite?

I have used 10 degrees down on the motor on Rogallo kites using a fuselage with rudder and elevator and this works great. I now want to build with VT unit on top of the wing.

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks

angel of attack

10 degrees down is to much.
if the vectorunit is very high (what is nonsense, but i also test nonsense)
the motor must shown up, because the long lever arm is pulling the nose always down if the throttle is open. If the prop is near the sail surface the motor must show down, but this is also nonsense, because the sail stops the input of fresh air and you have reflexions between sail and the output air of the prop.
..so start with 0 degrees and make sure that the air in front and after the prop is not to much interferensed by sail.

Thank you Vectorflyer

Thanks for the reply, I will try zero degrees to start with, I hope to fly in a few days.
