New home of Trappy's "Ultimate Zephyr FPV Build" Thread
As you all know, Trappy was banned from RCG and is unable to come back, preventing him to support his old "Ultimate Zephyr FPV thread" (which has now been closed). The thread was one of the most important sources of information for the FPV community globally with 183 pages of questions, comments, and information -- yet, the man who started it was prevented from joining the discussion. Trappy asked that I inform you of a new, Trappy supported Zephyr build thread at a new FPV focused forum called FPVLab. If you'd like to get answers or support from Trappy on your Zephyr build questions, you can link to FPVLab's Zephyr FPV Build Manual.

I'm one of Trappy's biggest fans, both as a pilot and as a person. I disagree with him on occasion about TACTFULNESS, but rarely about the meat of what he says... even if it's to call me a Moron, which is something I hear so often that I can't really disagree.
So here's to Trappy's success! I hope the new forum takes off. His videos are an inspiration and his help in fostering new FPV pilots invaluable. |

^^ I'm not sure if you think that FPVLAB is Trappy's board, but I just wanted to make it clear that it's not. It's owned by an FPVPILOT, but it's run by the more then 225 FPV pilots that are registered there. Whatever they want to see within my means I make it happen and it's growing fast.
The board doesn't exist to try to knock off RCG - that will never happen as RCG is a beast. RCG IS THE SINGLE MOST COMPREHENSIVE RC FORUM ON EARTH. Who'd want to compete with that? LOL. I wouldn't... RCG is a 1 stop shop. PERIOD!! But if that's true, then I'll say my board is a 1 shop stop. And that shop is FPV!! It doesn't exist to fragment the FPV movement... what it does have that RCG doesn't is a very specific focus. I still pop on here for the heli forums, as well as the warbird forums. But when it comes to FPV this is no longer my 1st stop - T. Scherrer is on, John from DL, Immersion, RMRC and more vendors inbound as we speak. Some new names, and a lot of other familiar names. Even Gabriel is on my board (yes, THAT Gabriel - LOL) who vowed to never do another forum again bc of how he has been critisized and attacked on other forums. He obv decided that my spot works for him - a decision he made all on his own. No1 is attacked due to their flying style, and everyone respects each others different technical approach to FPV. It's moderated fairly no matter what and to date there has been 0 douchebaggery. TBS has a forum there - not Trappy specifically. And if he starts being a tool then we'll revisit that agreement - same goes for any1 else. My dealings with Jim here have been "mostly" favorable - seems like a stand-up guy from what little I know of him (other than banning me and my brother bc he said we share several IPs - LOL. The next time my brother visits me I'll make sure he brings his own computer - LOL). He reversed it after I messaged him on Facebook, so all was well - but still pretty funny although he locked the thread and considered it a "waste of his time" to fix what we presented as real issues. My only issue was ignoring that a problem existed, despite many examples provided by members in this forum to include businesses that support their products here. I didn't expect him to fix it on the spot - but at least acknowledge that things could or would be improved/addressed. Launching my board was simply to provide a better organized solution for FPV pilots that "we" own - vs bein given a small space on a larger board - that's all. If it never grows by another single pilot that's fine with be bc we have some of the most experienced guys on the globe - I'll continue to foot the bills until it dwindles down to just me over there. Quality over quantity is just fine for the vision that we have over there - plus it's not like there are a million FPV pilots anyway. We dont' really matter outside of our own minds - LOL. I support any FPV pilot no matter what board he calls home. We'll see you all around the friendly skies. Wheels up, Sentry |

New member of FPVlab here. I'm looking forward to the useful info. I've begun my first FPV purchases, and I'd like to expand from here. I'm glad to know Trappy is over there. I've been very impressed with the information he's been able to offer regarding FPV hardware. I haven't followed any of the drama threads, so I don't know about that. IMO, he's a great resource, and it's a shame we have to fragment in order to get his input.

So..does that mean everyone is jumping ship to another forum?
While Trappy is/was a great resource, surely there are more people using Zephyrs in the world now and this can still be a useful thread. I guess I'm just to lazy to sign up for yet another forum. It's hard to keep track of them.... |

Personally I find it a bit off-putting that people can behave all proper and kind and thoughtful on another FPV board, but can't keep from intentionally offending everybody they disagree with on this forum.
If people were just consistently kind and considerate, this would be the one-and-only place to be. Almost looks like people had ulterior motives for getting in here and mucking things up... things like, oh, maybe starting their own competing forum? |

And you say my entire point was to start a competing forum? LOL. I am not competing with RCGroups. If you want to talk gliders - I'll gladly point members of my board back over here. Helis (non-fpv)? You betcha - RCG gets my vote. Crawlers ---> not RCG but it'd be a close 2nd or 3rd. GENERAL RC line of sight stuff - better get yourself over to RCG ASAP!!! FPV? Not so much. 2 subforums (marketplace) and the rest is in one big forum scattered about. 900 page threads with dated tech that goes back to 2006. Swing and a miss. The awesome thing about a new board is even the oldest posts is modern tech. I am not competeing with RCG as much as I am with other FPV-SPECIFIC forums. Furthermore why compete when we can co-exist?? I think that I came up with a nice new theme/concept and "feel". And it's working for those that like that kinda thing. YMMV. Guess what - I know for a FACT that 99% of your favorite FPV shops are run by EEs who have a full time job - they run the FPV shops out of their spare bedrooms and garages. They come home from WORK, take your orders, box them up all night - barely get time for their wives/kids and then get up and go to work tomorrow - yet the insane amounts of marketing charges here for basic "mom and pop" operations. I am SENSITIVE to that. My board is a COMMUNITY. I know for a FACT that Tim @ ReadyMadeRC gets 5 hours a sleep at night if he's lucky bc he has a day job, and then has to do RMRC after all that - so why would I charge a ridiculous amount for space over there? Guess what - they say marketing pays for itself but you're dealing with a niche market where every1 is trying to get the cheapest gear that they can as long as it works. One board is IN TOUCH w/ the members and personalities - one isn't. Take your pick, and I will still support you regardless. But I hope that your pic is any of the FPV SPECIFIC boards out there - I can give you a list if you'd like, and I'll even exclude my forum just to keep it fair. There aren't enough FPV pilots alive where we can afford to have that "personal" touch ignored. I love the many sub-forums here - it's information central if you ask me. And if you want the latest in GENERAL RC - this is the spot where I point random people to when they see me flying and want to get into RC. I will continue to do that bc RCG is a great place for general RC. But you BETTER believe, if they want to get into FPV without weeding through poor moderation - then I don't direct them here. Go to Video Piloting and see how many "new to FPV" threads there are that should have ALREADY been merged to Alex's "how to be successful in FPV" thread. 192 "hello I'm new threads" with the same questions and the same people answering them over and over and over. General confusion really. Noobs are welcome to my board - but they are ALSO welcome to read the FPV PILOT IN TRAINING threads before they clutter the board. If they don't want to research - then FPV is likely not something that they should venture into. They'll get linked to the approriate thread for that kind of questioning and get their thread locked. Anyway - I'm continuing to evaluate every RCG email I get and ask "do I really need to be subscribed to this particular thread anymore"? Most were when I was begining to research and I subscribed to a LOT (lol). So I'll still be around - slowly unsibscribing to the threads that don't benefit me anymore bc for the most part I've acquired a pretty decent "working knowledge" of FPV and made some excellent resources to help me out in a pinch. The rest - well, it is what it is. Good luck in your endeavors and long live FPV!! ANY FPV pilot is a friend of mine - and if I can support you I will no matter what board you post from. Sentry |
