By the way, I always rant about Steves products, and in the next couple of weeks I will do a build on his boat, cant wait, no holes to cut, better hull, way nicer hatch, better roll bar, etc..should be fun..

i took the nitro engine out it was just too unreliable and put a 3000w 36v brushless motor in but it destroyed the coupling on the first run running on just 3s lol and oh yea the rudder was reversed because the transmitter was set up for the jetboat and i couldn't change it without my laptop

i hope your day finishes better than mine everything dried out ok lol
and with the gyros on everything it almost turns into care free handling like its guided by the force. it will never slide out or try to dive off a wave and turn into a submarine on the really choppy stuff. |

has anyone tried to put some kind of thrust bearing on the drive shaft to reduce the strain on the motor ?there is no end bearing on the shaft to stop it pushing on the motor so all the thrust is pushing directly on the motor shaft bearings. will that not screw up the motor after a while? i think that could be why the stock motor self destructs after a few runs with a 3s

Tonight I shall be handing back the last of my friends planes which I have been repairing for them, so at long last I will have some time to build up my Steve boat. I'm sure you'll have yours done before me though, Chi. Had to break off this post to answer the door. My new camera battery has arrived. Will charge it up then I can post a pic of my engine. Meanwhile, has anybody else been fascinated by this pic on Graupner's site. It has been at the top of the section on R/C electric boats for a year, and appears to be a kit but the kit doesn't appear anywhere in the subsequent pages. |

Probably more to do with running the stock brushed motor on 11.1volts rather than the 9.6volt nicad it comes with. |

So, does he know anything about this phantom kit. Even the engine would be worth having now the Pactra isn't about.
