What is straight fuel as opposed to the glow fuel used these days?

'Straight fuel' is a simple methanol/castor mix - 70/30, 60/40 etc - no nitromethane or other additives

Yep. It's an engine your son found in a field.

Buran, you ought to open a new thread for your engine.
Unfortunately for old gasoline ignition engines made before WWII and just after, was that you bought a casting kit and machine it yourself, or found someone to do it for you. So there were a lot of homemade engines back then running around.
But someone might recognize it if you had it in its own thread instead of buried down in a different thread.

Your right, it's not a glow engine. I'll do that and thanks.
