Also from eBay UK, a rare French motor - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ALLOUCHERY-5cm...item2eb57415af
I admire very much, the superb quality of French made engines, but the "supercharger" fitted to this one is little more than a gimmick. The great Peter Chinn once tested a smaller Allouchery like this, and found the fan to be of doubtful value. BOB

Cool looking engine, but you are correct in that the fan on the back likely robs the engine of more power than it provides. A couple of engineering machining companies made superchargers for small glow engines, and they had to maintain some super tight tolerances to get them to work, and even then the gain in performance was quite modest. Not worth the effort. But the engines did look really neat though. I remember drooling and coveting a OS Supercharged 1.20 Surpass engine for a number of years. But then when I could probably afford to buy one, they quit making them plus they are sorta obsolete now too.

Not exactly a glow engine, but it is a wicked cool turbo-prop model engine:

Yes, I was tempted once to buy an OS 1.20 Supercharged engine, but what happens if the blower is gummed up solid ? BOB

Even worse is if the fuel pump and regulator need rebuilding.

I didn't have anything quite like it in my collection so it was a good acquisition for me.

I'll take some nice photos of it when in comes and post them here.

Hey Whiz, there is a really nice Webra 20 NIB on RCU for sale for 50.00. The artwork on the box is worth that.

That looks like a nice one, Bill. I think my example is a little nicer but at $50.... Someone ought to pick it up.

I just bought these this evening. Enya .049 Atwood Wasp

Add these to the K&B 40 of earlier this week and I've hit my limit for awhile.
Thanks for thinking of me, though.

Mike
