Help please - question about which servos to put where on a PA Katana Mini?

Hi all,

Quick question - I'm putting together a PA Katana Mini (not MD) and have a pair of Ino-Lab D202MG and a pair of HS-65 HB. The Ino-Labs have a slight edge on torque (2kg as opposed to 1.8kg on the Hitecs; @4.8V) but the Hitecs have a slight edge on speed (0.14 over 60 @ 4.8 as opposed to 0.16 for the Ino-Labs).

Now there probably isn't much in it at the end of the day - but which pair should I put on the ailerons and which pair should I put on the tail?

I'm inclined to put the Ino-Labs on the ailerons, partly because I understand the aileron loads are high but also because the Inos are BNIB and more likely matched whereas the HS65s have come from a 450 sized heli and might have unevenly worn slightly.

Thanking in advance,

I run 65's all round on a KMD and like em.Not sure it really matters on the smaller Katana as both types are great servos and I dont think you will overpower them on the mini Katana.Personally I like a fast servo on the tail for hover response, but not sure how much of that you will be doing with this plane? The torque of both types are more than adequate,so go with the speed in the area that suits your flying style. If it was me I would have em in the tail for 3D,not nearly so critical or even helpful for more sedate flying though.
You won't go wrong either way. What power setup are you using?

I would go with Ino-labs in the tail and Hitecs in the wings - generally you want more torque on rudder and elevator and you can have less on ailerons. And of course as quick as possible on all surfaces.

HS65hb: 11.2 grams (Carbonite Gears)
Ino-Lab D202MG: 9.7 grams (Metal Gears)

I would put the Ino-Lab metal gear servos in the rudder and elevator.
Put the HS65 carbonites in the wings.

I have a PA Katana Mini and I'm running HS55's in the wings and HS65's on the rudder and elevator. I like to have the better gearing on the rudder and elevator. So in your case, it is as above, the metal gears in the back of the plane.

The weight and wing loading on the Katana Mini are low for a plane of it's size so you will be ok with only 9.7gram (but metal gear) servos in the tail.
