19.5"ws Sbach profile.

well I did a sbach 342 profile from some pics I found online.

it has a 19.5"ws weighs 17.5grams without electronics and I am planning on putting the 4-site electronics in it. this should be ok for basic flying but for full hover and 3d flying I am thinking I may need to go brushless with a 2s setup.
I have the airframe cutout and painted and I will be putting the electronics in soon I just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys think about the weight and if it is even worth putting the 4site gear in or if i should just do a brushless

oh yeah I know the airbrush isnt great but it was my first ever airbrushed body

Really cool, the checkerboard and everything
You'll have to give Jim Bourke a shout about it (RCGroups founder type chap who owns one). I don't think it's been often modelled yet, least not that i've seen.

I'd say, if you can go for brushless, go for brushless. It seems you want more out of it anyway than the other gear would offer.

Here are a couple of pictures of the Yak-55 I built that uses the gear from the Beast. It has a wingspan of 20 inches and weighs 2.0 ounces ready to fly.

i got the idea for the scheme from ajdreher here on rcgroups and he got the idea from Gary Holland also here on rcgroups. here is a link to the tut i used for the paint scheme. its the first vid.

I will post a pdf of the image I used scaled to 19.5"ws tonight if i get a chance. and thanks for all the kind words. I have other micro builds I have done and will start posting the results soon as well.

well I went with the 4-site gear to see how it powers the plane. and I am really happy with it. if i put the battery all the way to the front it flies like a dream level and great inverted flight. and if i move the battery back about 2 inches it will fly around tail heavy and do great hovering and flies nicely even with the heavy tail.
Auw = 35grams without battery, 38grams with a 160mah thunderpower 25c battery, and with a 280mah 25c battery it is 40.6 grams. and with the 4site weighing almost 36 grams(35.7) with battery the weight of this sbach is almost perfect.
I dont think I even need to go brushless so I may skip the brushless micro and build me a 28"ws version with a larger brushless motor and micro servos that I have sitting here with no home.

here is the pdf I used. after i cut it out i noticed the top view was 2 inches short. I must have messed up the scaling when i was making the pdf. so what i did was added 2 inches to the plan. first I cut the wing down the center and added a 1" strip of paper to extend the length. then just before the tail I cut and added another 1" strip and it worked better than I could have imagened. and it looks sweet.
If there is any interest at all I will rescale the files to make them match up perfect. but as it is adding the 2 inches was easy and you can add 2 inches to the wing if you want it even more floaty or add the whole 2" before the tail and you should have a faster bird I would expect.

Thanks the plans are just really blown up to size image straight from the site but I will install illistrator some time soon and get a good set of plans drawn up with all lines for the ailerons and elevator and fuse cuts marked

Sweet plane! I am working on a micro pitts but hate working with bi-planes of this size. If someone could rescale these planes I know there would be a lot more people interested in building it.

ok here are the plans I worked on today. after gettingthem scalled correct it looks to be 20.5"ws i believe. I have not tried them but they look to be ok. if there is any issue just let me know and I will try to fix it.

Ok here we go! Very excited to add what I've been messing with for a while now too. Xtremeair.de was where it all started, making similar proportional specs and match curvature from 3views like TheOne420. I drew up plans in Pro-E for one I thought would be decent for the electronics I had lying around from a previous setup on a foam bipe that didnt last too long.
My setup currently:
TP Brushless 2410-08* w/ 10x4.7 prop
12A esc
4- HS-55 servos
1000mah 3s lipo
After several attempts I finally ended with a 27''wspan. Great performance for any style of flying and getting 14min minimum flight times.

Now for the micro:

There's an indoor event nearby every other week and recently decided to make a 17'', maiden was a success in 15mph gusts (not comforting) but havent had a chance to go to the event with this plane yet, should be nice.

The 17'' for now has a:
AEO c10 brushless 2100kV w/ 5x3 prop ~8g
3- 2g servos
6A micro esc ~6g
Dualsky 2s 250mAh pack

Look forward to seeing more!

very nice plans thanks for the 17"ws option it should be a good replacement when i destroy this one. with the stock 4site gear it is fun but I dont have unlimited hover but will still hover and fly great just not extended hovers.
