If you deflect the ailerons up for spoilerons, the main portion of the wing can be flown at a higher AOA without fear of tip stalling and the plane can be flown slower.

This is what I did on my Powerfly mosquito and it did work.

If in doubt, add accelerant

Ah ok, I did flaperons with a UM P51, it just increased the tip stall tendency a bit.

Because they are full wing flaps and you were deflecting them down.

The Mosquito flaps are at the tips and the flap switch should only deflect them up.

How would I go about setting that up? Would It just be set on one switch? Does it effect turning using the ail? I am a newb with this, so any advice appreciated. Also, any elev/ail mixing necessary?

First, you need to switch the Brick to separate Channels 2 and 6.

Bind Brick to a TX model with no mixes or reverse channels (or bind it to a RTF TX), then unplug the RX battery.

For a Mode 2 TX, Put the throttle at full, and move the Aileron/Elevator (right stick) to full southwest (full up elevator, full left rudder).

Plug in the RX Battery and wait a few seconds for it to flash 3 times.

To test it, only one Aileron will work, now.

Now Switch the Mosquito model in your TX to "dual ailerons" or "Flaperons" and bind it to the RX... Now both ailerons should work again.

Then adjust your flaps to give the desired throw you want.

I had it switched to dual already, then I did the procedure. My question, is how do I go about messing with the the throws, and when to deploy full flaps etc.

It depends on what TX you have.

Just play with the flap settings until both ailerons deflect up at 20 degrees at full flap travel.

Mix it to an on/off switch so you can see the difference it makes at low speed.

I'd be interested in that - would make it possible to get a bit closer to the prototype (which is how I still imagine a Mossie) - just need to work out how to repaint it! Don't suppose I'm up to shortening the nacelles for the full scale look of the original proto, but I guess what I saw did have the extended nacelles for testing of those, so what I could make wouldn't be too far off what I remember seeing many times when I was a kid (we lived just down the road from it).

Did anyone think about actually adding flaps (not flaperons) using one servo and music wire and using the inside of the wing as flaps ?

I'm planning on doing this mod. I want to get a few more flights in before I start cutting it up though. I haven't added flaps to a plane before. I have a plan already but if anyone can point me to a thread with relevant info it would be appreciated.
