Uploaded on Jan 5, 2009 Das ist mein Cox Rennboot This boat is 42cm long (with Rudder 51cm) and 6cm/20,5cm wide. The weight is 450g complete with full Tank and RC Components. The Engine ist the 0,8ccm Cox and i use a GAUPNER 29 Prop. For the Hull i use only ply wood, the cavities are filled with polyurethane foam. Go back to post # 115 AP 09 modified water cooled inboard.

Thank for the video AA, remember that post # 115 https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...&postcount=115 Curt Conrad did a good job on that ASP .09, he's still active on RCG but doesn't post very much!

The small strut and flex drive from Joyway offshore warrior works well for 1/2A use 24 bucks
gets you the entire drive line parts the 1/8th strut assembly and flex drive sold separately comes with two bearings, drive dog / nut and coupler. The cable is 2.28mm coupler is for 1/8th inch DD motor, over all is 7.7in long. I show it with the TD however I plan to tap out the coupler for the 4mm threaded shaft of the Picco .05. which puts out about 60w more power with a tuned pipe. The aluminum flywheels come from a shop in England. With the weight of the drive line and prop there is no need for a massive heavy Dumas flywheel made for submerged props and no throttle. I ordered this micro strut rudder set just for the rudder the strut is bigger than the joyway the joyway rudder is bigger so the two big items will go together and mash the smaller gear for the 1/2A rigger. The joyway rudder is 80mm from top to bottom compared to the 51mm micro rudder, hence the mash up. Struts shown in actual size the joyway aluminum strut is as small as I could (29.4mm) find in aluminum. Strength is important but size/weight is too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aluminum-Rud...3D162096522458 |

And whaaalah the most ferocious 1/2A RC throttled rigger power plant is born.
I tapped the coupler to 4mm and the flywheel but really don't need the wheel if I am going with pull start. I will reduce the handle size and tuck it in the rigger when running. I used a prop drive collet and thrust plate so all prop thrust is put on the bearing and not the engine parts from Mecoa, they carry the back plate conversion too should I with to deal with belt starting. The grub screws are robust 4mm cudo's to Joyway in those regards, 2 lock down the flex drive very well. The other two for the motor side is a bit redundant as I get a solid connection to the engines crank with plenty of threads. Really nice 1/2A set up with the Profi .8cc tuned pipe and sportwerks header. The full wave resonator pipe will held the maximum possible boost over a typical 1/4 wave car pipe. 6.9oz as shown 160w of power good for 40k unloaded with the right prop. With modified props 1.6x24mm at 40k / 61 mph 1.9x22mm at 40K / 72 mph Recap I have verified one of my 3 Picco's power out thus far: You can get these and the 1/2A tuned pipes online while they last.

Perhaps a cowl to reduce drag over the cooling fins and hide the pull starter. Much rather have a water cooling head but no lathe here. |

Update the other micro strut and rudder came in and the size reference per previous pics provided
by the vendor is not correct in fact to my fortune it is smaller only 1mm difference in the struts. Very good quality competition class gear and so will use. I have sourced some 2.2mm flex cable long enough to run the engine up front and radio gear in the back waiting on that order to come in then I can start the build. Although the power system is considered small for nitro engines it is not a small rigger for this forum. I want the boat long and lanky with a wide stance so it wont flip / stable for high speeds. More of a sub micro boat if anything. Design update with adjustable sponson ea. Two step in the back with concentrated compressed air under the engine mass. Vertical stab option will help control prop walk allows less fudging to keep it running straight with the least amount of drag. May cowl the engine and run ram air over the crank case. |

Sponson's will have their side and twisting loads in check with
the additional out side boom brace. Toe in and toe out adjustable with rubber tube will have a wide stance for banging hard turns and anti flip. Fuel tank made from a snap box sealed with special sauce. 100cc or 3.4oz capacity. Great test bed for the powerful Picco 1/2A engine but may use the Vertigo .07 and Sirio .09 too. 11.8mm Deck clearance should make good air compression for additional speed. |

499.3g with fuel total in the water weight.
Cut off three of the cooling fins. Ready to break in the engine next. |

Dr. Sam on International Waters made a P-Zero 1/2A Rigger here is his effort:

I think Dr. Sam is from Australia, their summer starts during winter time in North America.
Perhaps he will post some more updates, his vid was during the early testing phase, he clearly was not in full control, the rigger was pulling to the right too much. The strut depth was pushing on the sponsons, seemed like the CG is off was not quite loose and nimble, but great show of the power of the little 1/2A Picco engine. |

Bought two new micro props today see pic.
.6" x.75" I am thinking this size should be good for the TD .010 For sure will sharpen the blades if need be will try it in stock form then modify one for speed the TD .010 ran consistently at 42,000 rpm, I have done it with a 130 mph 2ch plane so it is possible to have a micro size outrigger going 30mph providing the water is flat. I will test it with my 9" TD .020 Cracker Box if the engine hits 44k unloaded it will work for the TD .010 making at least 36k unloaded. Thus far the TD .020 has ran upto 37k with a 2ch plane with no issues. |

The M12 size came in now this one will work with the micro TD .010, I have a throttle sleeve for this engine with enough flywheel
I think low idle around 3k rpm is possible with the pitch of .7" the idle would be low enough to dock the boat without mishap. I could buy a 7ft dia. plastic blow up kiddie pool and set up a two step tether racer right in the living room lol. Run just 1 servo for throttle control set up for best speed then add a rudder servo and take it to the pond to radar it's untethered top end. As a RC rigger it could be ran in very small local ponds, even a back yard swimming pool IC in a pool would be a first for me. |
