I have my battery (3000mah 6s) a quarter of and inch to a half an inch off the wing tube. Any further back and landing becomes a tad interesting. So I don't think it's a cg issue

No weight on the tail. My plane is balanced very close to neutral, landing in strong wind does need a lot of attentions. I ended up adding a -2% elevator mix to throttle on my 3-point switch that helps a lot. I have the same mix on my EF EXP planes that all have larger elevator and are very pitch sensitive.

Then you have to find the sweet spot for your AOA. BTW, what prop are you using? I used to have 16x8 on a Torque 4016 MKII, I found that's too much torque for the 59 given the shorter fuse. Now I have VOX 15x8 with MF 4315 KV 480, she is much tender now.

What degree would you guess your AOA is? I have a 4315-480 swinging a 15x7

I have a 15x8 but I have not tried it yet

The dedicated field at El Dorado Park in Long Beach has everything going for it, but the surface itself is vandalized constantly by gophers, and the city doesn't have money in the budget anymore for abatement.
Stock landing gear is not advised. Think "bush pilot". |

I'd be finding anywhere else to fly, kill the gophers myself, mend a small section to land on OR handlaunch/catch the plane outta hover before doing that gear mod! I'm sure it works ok but man, it's ugly!! Not trying to be offensive just MHO.

Bush Slick, I like it...great job

I like it too, an old style look to a modern plane, if I knock my gear off I know what to do about it now. LOL

Misalignment between Canopy and Cowl |

I know it has been covered before, but it seems worth repeating. Andrew designed the plane for a very specific CG location His recommendation for fine tuning is to move the CG forward or aft to get it to knife edge with no pitch trim required. If it pitches to the wheels in knife edge it is tail heavy, If it pitches to the canopy it is nose heavy, This will put the CG just slightly nose heavy from neutral in inverted flight. You can certainly put the CG where you want but if you desire the performance that was intended try it there. With the CG set as designed it will harrier very easily with no wing rock, also one of the easiest models in this size to hover. Changing the incidence will have a lot of other unintended consequences, If you are doing that it is unlikely you will ever be happy with the plane. Dennis |

Another thought is, posting your question on this forum: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1582025 RCMC is a genius and he may be able to find a way to modify the cowling. Good luck! |
