I run an AXI 4120/18 on a 6s3300 pack with a 15x6 prop, Awesome power.
I also run an E-Flite Power 60 with 6s3300 on a similar size plane. EF 60" Edge. Both are great power systems.

I must have slid my control horn in a slightly different angle. I could get about 62 max out of mine

Clip the horn shorter and drill a new hole.

UPS says mine is out for delivery.. It has 3 other planes in front of it waiting to be built up, including a 42" Slick. I'm debating putting it in the front of the line or waiting until I've built and flown the 42". It'll be my first balsa plane this size, which is why I'm tempted to build it up first - already comfortable with my buck huck and 48" Extra 300 SHP. Anything unique about Slicks that I need to learn with the 42" before I go to the 59"? If Real Flight 6 is a good indicator, the bigger planes seem to be easier to fly, particularly in the wind. Of course, I don't find the custom small electric models of the 3DHS planes you can get for RF6 to be that close to reality.

The 59 slick flys more like the shp than the 42 slick. So if you are comfortable with the shp then the 59 will be a peice of cake. Bigger flys easier/better

I have put mine together and am impatiently waiting for the maiden flight on Thursday. This is the second of the current generation of 3DHS planes I have put together, and I can't get over how great the quality of the kits is, and how the improvements just keep coming. Kudos to Ben and everyone else at 3DHS. I especially like the cowl design on this plane -- a big improvement over the 55" Extra SHP. The build videos posted on the website are a great help, too. The plane seemed to just fall together, it looks stunning, and I can't wait to fly it.

Thanks! So, it's settled. This will go to the front of the line. Just as well - I have no more room in the closet or under the bed to store plane kits, and this box is probably a whopper.

More stress testing on the repaired rudder tonight. This time I handed the sticks over to Archie to really punish her. On walk-a-bout #3 the rudder ripped from the hinges. The balsa on the rudder failed, probably from being smashed on the hover pancake 2 weeks ago.

I'm glad Archie was flying her as the rudder jammed the elevator allowing no down input. He still managed to 3 point her at the end of the field going just a bit long.

$25.00 for a new rudder, $5.00 to ship, should be here early next week at the latest.

I've looked at various planes in the 60 Size and I want to buy two in the size. I've been recommended a few models but I think I want one of these as one of them! It just looks so amazing with that cowl and red finish!

Just a few questions, however...

Is ADC HobbyStore owned by 3DHS? Because 3DHS site says instock and shipping but ADC HobbyStore says "Pre-orders July 1st"?

ICE-100 lite or ICE 75 lite? Is ICE100 lite overkill and just unnecessary additional weight?

Should I use the inbuilt BEC or an external Castle BEC 10A?

Ec3 or Ec5 connectors?

I'm really trying to keep weight to an absolute minimum in this plane My 71 with that big AXI motor although flies nice can feel a bit chunky. So my question is the Motorfly really worth it over Hacker even with the weight penalty? To save on weight, I'll be using a Thuder Power 65C 3300 4S.

HS5245MG on 6V or the new HS-7245MH on 7.2V?

Thanks very much!

I'll try to help some. The ice 75 is 1.0 oz the ice 100 is 1.1 oz. I would go with the 100 because is not much of a price difference or weight. The built in bec on the ice 100 works just fine.
Motorlfly is worth the extra weight over the hacker in this plane and you won't be sorry.
I use MKS servos on my 59" Slick at 6.0 volts. They are very fast and center perfect plus they are digital and titanium gear.
