Parkzone T-28 Wheel Upgrade...

I have a new T-28 on order and because I fly off of grass I decided to get some 2.5" dubro light treaded wheels....

I notice the axle holes are 5/32"....are these going to be ok on this plane? Will I need collars as whell or is the stock retaining method re-usable?

thanks!

It's just a plane.

I upgraded my T-28 by putting the wheels from the PZ P-47 on it. The standard nuts that came with the T-28 cracked so I just took the landing gear to the LHS and bought some nuts from there. I like it much better with bigger wheels on it.

Did you replace all three wheels or just the two rear?

I used all wheels the same size with 5/32 brass tubing in the wheel hole and over the wire.

I replaced only the front wheel with the P-47 wheel and it has not nosed over since. To me, doing just the rear wheels I would think would make it worse. Replacing all three may help a little (and look better). But imo replacing just the front wheel, without a doubt, will help the most.

P-47 wheels

How large are the P-47 wheels... are 2.5 or bigger?

If you are flying from grass, you want large diameter but thin wheels. The DuBro will be better than the PZ P-47 wheels. If you are flying from dirt, sand or gravel, the wide P-47 wheels will be better.

Thanks Guys... Yeah I'm considering the fatter gear... I want to land on a gravel road.

Four years after the last post on this thread, I figured It might not hurt, better than creating a new one (?).

Want to upgrade mine, after maiden yesterday I noticed even in the carpet-like fake grass of the soccer field by me the plane was tumbling and shaking all over the place rolling for takeoff. It did nose over once (well, where the plane stands on a wingtip, the nose wheel, and the prop adapter/cowling).

So getting 3x 2.5" Dubro treaded wheels would do the trick? Is it significant added weight or not really? I wonder how the end caps hook on the axles, whether they are threaded or glued.

Thanks for any advice!

You don't want the threaded wheels, which are rather wide. Get the micro wheels: http://www.rcfoam.com/zippy-lipo-bat...FdgPgQodVG4AqQ

The thin wheels work much better on grass. The wide wheels are better on sand/gravel.

The additional weight is insignificant.

Dave Brown Lectra Lite-flite wheels work good.
Get the treaded ones because they have a rounded edges.
