Build Log

Rusty an son 32" Ocean Catt MiSStaKen

A proud father I am. My son has saved his pocket money from his jobs to buy a bare hull. We have chosen the Kintec Cat. And seeing as I'm layed up for months to come i can't get too my MisKonduct, but I can certainly assist in the wheelchair with my son, and he see's me on this site and he want's to share his first build.

1 - Kintec CAT. 32" approx 820mm x 235mm

2 - 1 x CC 1717 Kindly donated by dad
3 - 3/16 drive line
4 - T180A
5 -6 x 2S for 2 runs of 6S http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=14697 donated by dad again.

Servo's and radio gear we will buy later, he has some jobs to do pay for all that. So we are placing the first order for the hull this weekend so it should arrive over here in a few weeks, Time for him to get busy washing the next door neighbors cars and mowing my lawn.

Never mind on the 2 1717's, I see that it's one now, it was just written with a #2 in front of it. From experience with mine, you may need the run the batts all at once for 6s2p to get the full potential from the motor.

I couldn't afford to help with the 2 x CC1717 scenario at this point in time, back in bloody hospital again, but hopefully this will be last time for around 12monthhs. So back to work soon then I may do the twin build. But I have my eye on a HPR 115

Those batteries are 2S2P

4mm drive shafts are not really suitable for a 6S build would I be correct ?

You would need a considerably larger hull for twins Rusty. At least in the case of twin 1717's. You're probably going to find this one a bit cramped for space with even the single 1717 amd T180.

That's OK bill i would never consider twin CC1717 on that size in this hull. I wouldn't consider twin 1717's until i got something around the 41" to 50" range. On the other hand. Twin 2045 leopards on 4S wouldn't be out of the question if I was building this for me

Hey rusty if you were to do twins you could use 2 x leopard 2860
http://www.astecmodels.co.uk/catalog...oducts_id=1262
and run 36mm counter rotating props and 80amp esc on 3s on each motor.
This is what im upgrading the saga to and thats a 34" cat

Its running 2 x 2860,2881kv cheapo motors,70amp ESC and 36mm props now and it goes really well and if i run 3s,3700mah,25c batts i can get over 6 mins run time easy.
Just a thought thats all,i just gotta wait till my eldest is more confident in driving then ill do the upgrade for him

My son went from being a little gentle and ginger as you have seen in the vids. But all of a sudden he just got it, the penny dropped, same the cars as well so I'm not worried about something faster, he has good throttle control from driving the 4x4's around offroad rc tracks near where I live. All through xmas he was charging batteries and driving up a down the driveway jumping on his skateboard ramps.

oh to be a kid again

So your young bloke will be the same wont take long

I'm sure 3660's would fit but I suppose the the 2860's could save some weight.
