I use a contact cement to glue my fan units in my planes. Holds nice and tight but I can "pop" them out if I need to.

Here is what I can tell you on thrust, I just weighed the plane with a 4S2200 lipo and it is about 27 ounces. I ran it up and at ~500 watts I was at 1:1 thrust to weight. I need to charge the lipo to see what it is at on a full charge, my guess is about 32 ounces thrust.

I install the fan units with hot melt glue.

Don - thanks! That will be a rocket!

The stock setup is about 29oz thrust at 482Watts and 48,000RPM according to the fan manual.

I watt-metered mine (stock) today and on a fresh 4S 2200 40C pack I got 560 watts settling down to around 525 after about 30 seconds. Amp draw started at 36 amps and settled to 34-35.

Thanks! I was hoping for that - the fuselage duct is probably having some effect. The fan data in the manual is not specific to this plane, so it makes sense!

I have a new 4S lipo coming, I recharged mine an it still was low on watt, it was only 3.4 volts per cell under load! No wonder I was only getting ~500 watts

I did a quick test with my 2900kv motor on 6S. It goes 700 watts at WOT, very scary. I know this is way over what they say the motor is good for, but it didn't smoke at least. For the test I used a fresh 4000 mah 45C 6S. It will not fit in the plane, it was just to get a measurement. Now I need to find a battery setup that fits, looks like a 2x1800x3s.

No hand launch for this one! I suspect the motor might not last long, but we'll see

Nope it tucked on the maiden when I went to WOT and destroyed the plane. I think this model has issues with high speed. I thought I posted that here, must have posted it in the other thread.

Gotta agree with Don, shortly after he started this thread I lost mine during the maiden flight while at WOT on the stock set up; lost all control authority at full throttle and nosed in. I've read of others having similar issues.

just picked up another pnp 4s version for dirt cheap, guess i'll have to try and fix all the high speed problems before taking her up

Don, did you every get another one to build/fly? Do you still like the F-20, or you prefer your evader more? I liked the size of the F-20, as the evader is a bit smaller (but composite shell).
