Brad,

Sorry to hear you can't make it. I was hoping to see your Newport.

I should be there with the Newport. Hopefully it will be ready to get wet.

Looks like we will be having 10 mph winds on Sunday. Should be perfect for the big boats!

Today we had a nice group show up at the lake. At one time we had 7 boats in the water, more boats showed up later in the day. It has been several months since I have been to the lake. The wind at times was very light and for a short time it was blowing strong. I am sure everybody had a great time.

Robert (rjd) brought his Newport #717.
Rich (rsgault) brought his Newport.
Kevin (poltergeist) brought his Phantom and a Chris Craft runabout.
I brought my Canterbury J.

Kevin,

Thanks for posting your pictures. It was a great day. The paper this morning said the temp in riverside was 80 on Sunday.

I learned to sail in the North Bay of San Francisco. The guy who taught me to sail told me (and I still believe it to this day) that light air sailing is the measure of a true sailor because you do not have the boat speed to make many mistakes. The North Bay will definitely test you because during the late fall, winter and early spring it is light air all the time, during the summer it will bring up small craft warnings almost every day!

I believe it. It was certainly very warm in the sun (think I got a little bit of a sunburn to show for it!).

I hate to appear anti-social but I think next time, if it's warm out, I'm going to "set up shop" in the old spot. It was much cooler over there with lots of shade and not looking straight into the sun!!!
