Never loose your plane again! GSM/GPS Tracker Lite - 44.3$

there is a better solution now:

There are many GPS/GSM Trackers on the market but one is really cheap and just works for our needs

You can grab it for 16$

It s name is the TK 102, there is a huge Thread about it on

The only drawback is its weight (60g with Battery) So here is how you can lower it to 29g

Drawback: If you crash really badly the connector might go off the BEC but If I look at all my previous crashes it never really happened or this could be avoided.

Once the Tracker is set with your phone it works directly when it is powered.
You call it, you hang up and you receive the GPS coordinates in a sms.

You must power it through the mini usb port and not the battery connectors (does not work, don't know why)

Other infos:

You must disable the Sim code on the Sim Card

To set up your phone with the tracker, send begin123456 in a sms to the Tracker. After that It just works!

If you want to replace the antenna with a wire, use a 158.5mm wire.

Wouldn't this tracker require a SIM card on an active cell phone plan including texting? If so, anyone know of any lowcost pay per minute phones with a zero monthly upkeep fee?

Yes of course the tracker needs a SIM card

You can choose to have either a prepaid card or like me a pay per call plan.

I pay only when I use it, which is 0.40€ per sms.

Got mine at last and it is working!
First flight it worked simply strapped as a 60g unit to the fuselage of my plane....
Now for copying your dismantle job..... Did you simply solder a serbo red and black wire to the + - pins in the picture? And then get it powered thru your receiver?
Thanks in advance.

Yes i am in the uk and works fine, make sure you get a 2g sim card tho for it.
I gather there are alot of fakes around also, i had a dodgy one to begin with but sent it back and bought another (possibly an immitation of the xenun one) but it does work fine.
Keen to learn how iacei powered his after this mod, my electics knowledge is limited.... Any ideas?

Be careful where you buy on ebay. I ordered one from a Chinese seller and it didn't work right. They naturally (and reasonably) wanted me to return it for an exchange, but that shipping would have exceed my original cost, so I wrote it off.

Link is fixed, Good news, price went down a bit.

And yes it works in EU.

To power it just plug the servo connector in your Rx.

I have one, but never used it (only testing) !
it does work, but not so sure if I like it.

I have a small android phone with LIVE GPS tracking, and that work better for me.

but yes I live in Norway (Mo i Rana) and it does work.
maybe I sell mine.

I made the mistake of putting a 3g sim into it at first.... It didnt work.
Then with a 2g sim ( i never knew there was a difference, i got it to work)
I would guess that mine is a fake looking at the build quality, but, it works fine and gives me lots of confidence when i fly out of site somewhere over there!
