Thanks guys.

My eyesight does suck a little but I am used to it...

I was stunned at the speed it went. I was expecting it to move out but this was faster than I imagined it would be.

It was only a short flight as I am still cycling the lipo. I put back in 220mah.

The lipo came down barely warm, considering it has no airflow on it, that's good.

I'm still buzzed by it's performance. I'm very happy.

Well, I did say I wanted to be able to just have a goog flying plane. Yours is just INSANELY fast. Just don't make the 30mm/40mm/50mm crowd upset. They'll ban you like a card shark from a casino. I love it!!!

Ya, your really treading dangerous grounds, but they wouldn't be able to catch you so don't worry about it.

That is some amazing performance! Your hawk looked very solid in the air also! The dog at the end of the video did make me nervous

Thanks pdawg. We said it would've been ugly if the dog chewed up the Hawk after all that work when we saw him running near it!

I should mention to all that the power unit is a hop-up from the original ( "Gee! Really Nitro?" ).

I remember now that in a PM to pdawg I told him I had changed the setup to test out a high performance 25mm EDF unit I had put together. It's actually the 3rd setup I'd put in there before I even maidened it. LOL

2mm depron all around. ESC is a Castle Creations 10A Phoenix, stripped of it's heatshrink cover. I replaced the standard heavy wire with lighter stuff. I placed it in one of the intake ducts for cooling. The setup draws 8A static on 3S - which would unload a little in the air.

I used a GWS 30mm rotor. I cut off 3 of the blades and trimmed down the remaining 3 to fit into one of B.I.M.'s shrouds he sells.

hey NC,

what made you switch from ailerons/elevator to tailerons? I noticed you're running an AR6400 now, I like how you implemented that. is the handling with tailerons comparable to the dedicated ailerons/elevator?

tmt - it was easier to setup tailerons with the 6400 so went for it. It is very effective and I had to dial in lots of expo and turn down the rates. My first Hawk had tailerons on a fixed stab and worked OK for just flying around but now with the full flying surface it has much better authority.
