I usually don't laugh at crash videos, but that one made me. Heh, the power on that thing is just obscene.

I see from his build pix that Andy uses gluing strips.

I wonder why the 39 came apart ???

Maybe there is a limit on power with this type of construction

Since there is no such thing as TOO MUCH POWER maybe
it was faulty Depron or a sudden surge of Gravity.

The wing parting was a real SURPRISE !
That vid is worth the rewind ! :-)

I used UHU Por for the 39"er and, whilst the fuse had tabs, I didn't add any crosswise tape. Maybe a fillet of hot glue would have helped. I reckon the airframe would have taken the power with the addition of cross weave tape.
She was a real floater and would probably slope soar in the right conditions. However, the large wing does create a lot of drag so needs a lot of power to fly fast.

Headless: is Foam safe Foam2Foam glue by Deluxe very popular in the UK ?

I talked to them at a State side event recently ( Toledo )

Thanx,

Most of my club scratch builders use UHU Por. It's cheaper and seems to work well. I've had success with the HobbyKing foam safe glue https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...rge_100ml.html. It's thicker than Por but has better initial grip so better for sticking down wing panels. It is my go to glue for constructing EPP models and I have 5 of the smaller tubes on the slow boat from HK.

Bob, your spot on with the gravity thing, I have suffered similar problems and live near Headless, so it must be an East-Bristol problem
Mind you, almost everything I see Headless fly has even more than too much power ! His 'rare-bear' scoot's along, I'm surprised the motor doesn't turn up about 10 seconds before the air-frame !!!

Thanks. I watched with the sound off for one reason or other.

Had some fun with my FunBat today in the wind. 1/2 throttle and it would just hang there in the sky, right side up or upside down, like a wiggly balloon.

High Alpha AoA will do that on MOST planes I've flown.

I don't understand what you guys mean by glue strips. I had fun with my FB a couple of weeks ago with a 2408-21 motor. I finally put some 1500mah lipos in it and it didn't even care about the extra weight. Hopefully my wing stays on the fuselage because I used epoxy.

True, but with enough wind, you don't need the high alpha.

14mpg eh!
It's alright, we probably all know what you mean
'FunBat' is something of a phenomenon don't you think, big or small they all seem to fly particularly well. I'm still coaxing along a friend who has one in build, trouble is it looks so good he won't want to launch it in case it crashes !

Hey I'm old, Cut me some slack the G and H are right next to each other ! ;-)
My spell checker doesn't pick up anything that subtitle.
Plus ...
It was late and
It was raining
and the Line voltage was low
and my mouse has been double clicking,
and my car ran out of gas,
and the dog ate my homework
and the toilet was plugged up ...

I could post a litany of other excuses too :-)

But I digress.

A lot of Beautiful airplanes become Wall Hangers.

Tell him it's NOT an airplane if it never flys !

think I need to take a nap now.

Best

Bob
