Darn, that's really disappointing. I was looking forward to meeting the "old hand" teams!
I think we were lucky to have an airfield that can handle a wide range of weather conditions. The last couple of long flights for our 5hrs were in high wind, and during one flight we had sleet combined with a freezing wind. Jack (our intrepid pilot) really needed a coffee after standing with hands on the transmitter for an hour.
I'm curious about the X8. What cruise speed and endurance can you get out of it? I have been thinking about what sort of plane we might use for the next OBC, and something like this is tempting (our current plane is really a bit large, and takes a long time to setup). I wasn't sure we'd be able to fly for an hour with a 500ml bottle with something like the X8 though, especially at quite high speed. We think we'll need at least 28 m/s to cover the OBC search area at a height that our camera can do reliable Joe detection. Could an X8 do that?
